Job summary

Wayne State University, C2 Pipeline, is seeking a part-time program staff member to teach and mentor high school students while acting as a role model.

You will plan lessons, assist in program launches, and help recruit and enroll students for the C2 Pipeline 21st CCLC program, while ensuring compliance with licensing and reporting requirements.

Qualifications

• Background checks required by licensing and university policies.
• Live Scan fingerprinting and TB skin test within one year of employment.
• Immunizations as required and Bloodborne Pathogen Training prior to working with students.

Responsibilities

• Teach high school students and model professional conduct.
• Plan for classes and write or follow lesson plans aligned to curriculum.
• Assist in planning program launches, open houses, field trips, and performances.
• Promote recruitment and enrollment for the C2 Pipeline 21st CCLC program.
• Assist with surveys, data collection, and compliance deadlines as required.

Essential functions (job duties):

• Responsible for teaching high school students while acting as a role model.
• Effectively plan for the classes,programsand enrichment. Writeand orfollow lesson plans thataccompanythe curriculum.
• Assist the Site Coordinator in planning and implementing program launches, open houses, special exhibits,fieldtripsand any performances.
• Actively promote andassistin recruiting and enrollment for the C2 Pipeline 21st CCLC Program.
• Assist with the Michigan Department of Education and MSU 21st CCLC surveys, datacollectionand deadlines. Assist with the David P.WikartYouth Program Quality Assessment (YPQA),assessmentsand observations. Attend alltrainingsas mandated byMichiganDepartment of Human Services Bureau of Children and Adult Licensing requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:Associate’sdegree

• Bachelor’s Degree in an educational or youth related field, preferred.
• In lieu of Bachelor’s Degree Department the Health and Human Services Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers Rule 400.8122 will be followed to include; Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development; Montessori Credential with 480 hours experience in a youth related program; valid CDA with480 hoursexperience in a youth related program; high school diploma/GED with 12 semester hours in coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development and960 hoursexperience in youth related field; high school diploma/GED with a combination of 12 semester hours and/or 18 CEU’s to equal 180 clock hours and/or 18 CEU’s to equal 180 clock hours in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or child-related field and1,920 hoursexperience in a youth related field; high school Diploma/GED with a combination of 6 semester hours and/or 9 CEU’s to equal 90 clock hours of coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or child-related field and3,840 hoursexperience in a youth related field.
• Prior to employment, must pass all background checks required by the Department of Human Services Daycare Licensing Guidelines and Wayne State University employment policies.
• Must secure Live Scan fingerprinting, show proof of TB Skin Results from within one year of employment, show proof of any immunizations required by the assigned high school or university, show evidence of Bloodborne Pathogen Training prior to working with students.

Experience:

Experience: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)

• Must have experience managing and engaging groups or classes of “At-Risk” high school students.
• Experience and knowledge in high school core academics such as science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) and reading.
• CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain certification prior to working with students.

• Demonstrate a mature and professional attitude in dealing with students, parents, school district staff and community partners.
• Evidence of organizational, supervisory and the interpersonal skills required to run effective pipeline programing and establish good relationships with students, parents, school district staff and co-workers.

Working conditions:
Some evening and weekend work is required. Maximum of 12 hours/week, 2.5-3 hours per day, Monday through Friday predominantly. Schedule dependent on student release times at the individual high schools. Some sites have regularly scheduled early release days.
