Job summary

Summit Utilities, Inc. seeks a Construction & Maintenance Technician I (SGL3) based in Pine Bluff, AR. The role involves hands‑on field operations to install, repair, construct, and maintain natural gas distribution systems in challenging outdoor environments.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather. Availability to respond to emergencies outside normal hours is required; DOT safety testing applies.

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs company field operations including manual labor and other duties necessary to accomplish the installation, repair, construction and maintenance of natural gas distribution systems.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Install, repair, or replace steel and plastic pipeProvide First Responder assistance in emergency situationsLoad and unload required equipment, tools, and supplies onto and from truckLocate gas linesUse a variety of hand tools and power tools, including picks, shovels, sharpshooters, pipe wrenches, pipe cutters, bolt cutters, pavement saws, jack hammers, air guns, etc.Operate a motor vehicle and heavy equipment and the ability to enter and exit vehicle unassistedOperate a personal computer, either desktop or laptopExert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objectsStand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch daily for extended periods of time and in all types of weather conditionsHandle emergency situations, including possible exposure to gaseous atmospheres on occasionRespond to emergency calls and/or call-outs and occasionally return to work while off dutyCertify and don personal protective equipment, such as respirator, safety glasses, hardhat, gloves, protective footwear and earplugs on a daily basisSubmit to random drug screen pool required for DOT drivers and DOT safety sensitive positionsPerform other duties as assigned
