Position Summary: The Class C Lineman Transmission is an entry level lineman position in the construction, maintenance and repair of electrical transmission systems. This position works at various locations and may require travel to another state depending on customer demands.

Essential Functions:

1. Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized transmission work.
2. Stringing overhead wire.
3. Setting poles and anchors.
4. Frequently works with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others.
5. Maintains company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.
6. Does all other related work as required to complete the job.
7. Must be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather.
8. Able to perform rigorous physical labor.
9. Capable of learning transmission voltages on a circuit.
10. Must be familiar with induced voltage.
11. Capable of safely setting a pole.
12. Capable of learning to understand and read blueprints.
13. Capable of assisting with inspecting and recognizing structural problems.
14. Able to work productively from an aerial device.
15. Capable of assisting in troubleshooting.
16. Able to work alone on de-energized lines.
17. Capable of obtaining knowledge of wire stringing techniques.
18. Capable of learning and understanding how to sag wire from structure or bucket.
19. Able to assist with assembly and erect towers to all heights.
20. Able to assist with working from an aerial ladder to catch off and clip in.
21. Able to assist in framing and setting most basic line structures.
22. Able to assist in framing a de-energized pole structure in the air.
23. Able to assist with installing all types of compression connections.
24. Capable of working at heights and/or confined spaces.
25. Capable of properly installing and removing PPE and cover up.
26. Capable of properly inspecting rubber goods, covers and PPE.
27. Must be able to climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and possess the necessary tools to do so.
28. Understands how to tie various lineman knots.
29. Capable of making up and using a hand line.
30. Understands grounding procedures.
31. Understands proper equipment set-up and grounding procedures.
32. Understands how and when to use Kellum grips.
33. Able to identify different types of materials used in line work.
34. Understands minimum approach distance.
35. Understands flag and tag procedures.
36. Capable of performing basic bucket rescue/escape.

Minimum Requirements:

1. 1-year minimum of field experience.
2. Able to read and communicate effectively in English.
3. Able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days of employment.
4. A Commercial Driver’s License is preferred.
5. Able to travel long distances on short notice, when required.
6. Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.
7. Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
8. Able to properly inspect rubber goods and PPE.
9. Willing to work over-time when requested.
10. Willingness to glove/work live high voltage transmission lines.
11. Willing to work outside of the normal work schedule including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required for the position.
