Job Description

Position Summary:

Class C Lineman is an entry-level position involved in the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical overhead distribution systems. The role requires working at various locations and may involve travel to other states based on customer demands.

Essential Functions

• Work safely while performing construction, maintenance, or repair of energized and de-energized overhead lines.
• String overhead wire.
• Set poles and anchors.
• Assist with installing transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
• Help replace fuses in transformers and clear faulted circuits and systems.
• Work with energized high voltage systems, requiring skill and caution to ensure safety.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools.
• Perform other related duties as required to complete the job.

Minimum Requirements

• 1-2 years of experience preferred.
• Ability to perform rigorous physical labor.
• Knowledge of primary and secondary voltages.
• Familiarity with induced voltage.
• Assist with installation and hookup of single-phase transformers.
• Ability to safely set poles.
• Comfort working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Proper use of PPE and cover-up.
• Ability to check transformer voltages.
• Install and remove services.
• Inspect rubber goods and PPE.
• Climb various structures and possess necessary tools.
• Knowledge of lineman knots, grounding procedures, and equipment setup.
• Ability to identify line materials and travel long distances when required.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (preferred).

Physical Demands

Requires talking, hearing, standing, walking, handling, reaching, and physical effort, often in outdoor weather conditions.

Work Environment

Exposure to fumes, mechanical parts, vibration, extreme conditions, and loud noise. Work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions.
