Job summary

Geneva Trading in Chicago invites ambitious students to join our core development team as a C++ Developer Intern for a fast-paced 10-week period.

You will design, test, and deploy software solutions under senior technologists, working with large data sets and cross-functional teammates while leveraging AI-assisted tools to accelerate development. Geneva Trading is looking for ambitious, entrepreneurial students to join our core development team for a C++/software engineering internship next summer.Our internship program is a fast-paced, dynamic 10-week full-time paid position that gives you hands-on experience in the trading industry.Our interns are expected to design solutions to complex problems and work on projects that directlyimpactthe firm.You’llreceive mentorship by industry pros and willparticipatein corporate training, teambuilding activities, and firmwide summer socials to strengthen your connection with other interns and full-time employees. As a C++ Developer (Intern) You Will

• Develop, test, and deploy software solutions under the guidance and support of senior technologists
• Work with large data sets and research innovative techniques to solve complex problems with middle andback officetechnologists, researchers, analysts, and project managers
• Leverage agentic AI coding tools likeAnthropic'sClaude Code to navigate the codebase, automate routine tasks (like writing tests and fixing lint errors), and accelerate feature development
• Communicate your ideas to a larger audience and incorporate feedbackimmediatelyfor effective collaboration

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program focused on Computer Science or adjacent field
• Graduation dates between April 2024 and August 2026
• Excellent C++ programming and design skills
• A strong understanding of foundational computer science concepts including data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, etc.
• Exposure with network programming (TCP/IP) and multi-threaded applications
• Possess an intuitive curiosity to learn and implementnew ideas, be disciplined in your approach to work, and unafraid to take initiative or ask questions

Preferred Qualification

• Knowledge of data pipelines, relational databases, data storage, and Linux
• Prior internship experience in data engineering or software development
• Familiarity with foundational AI/ML frameworks or experience using terminal-based AI assistants (like Claude Code) to enhance problem-solving and streamline git workflows

Compensation:

Hourly Range: $40-45/hr

The final hourly rate will be dependent on the successful candidate's skills, experience, education, and qualifications.
