Qualifications

Job description

The work location for this position is on-site in Dahlgren, Virginia where we have provided support to the customer for over 60 years! Amentum is seeking software engineering professionals with software development related education and/or experience to support software development & integration in one or more of the following languages: C/C++, Java, or Python in support of Naval projects at Dahlgren, VA.

You will be part of our growing systems & software engineering team and contribute to our diverse skillsets across multiple software contracts in support of our Software Center of Excellence. We are looking for individuals to join our team atmosphere that are eager to make a difference by solving complex Digital Engineering challenges.

Apply your skills to the latest DoW weapons and sensor systems, modernizing the Navy and contributing to mission success. Successful candidates must possess excellent communication skills and interact directly with customers and engineering personnel.

Essential Responsibilities

Demonstrated expertise in the following technical areas:

• Software requirements, architecture, and testing.
• Modern weapon system software development, testing, and deployment processes.
• Experience with C, C++, Git, Jira, and static code analysis tools.
• Experience with modern software development practices including Agile, Scrum, and DevSecOps.
• Ability to work well on a cross functional team that includes members from industry and other government organizations.
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing at all levels to include Senior Managers and Program Managers.
• Ability to work independently and with others to meet established goals and program schedules.
• Ability to take responsibility for personal development acquiring knowledge and skills through continuous learning.
• Ability to identify, champion, and secure future work in alignment with the branch Mission, Vision, Strategic Goals, and Objectives.

Minimum Requirements

• 1-10 years of experience
• Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoW security clearance and have a valid driver’s license.
• Contract Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, engineering, or other applicable technical field or have equivalent experience to substitute for the education requirement.
• Job Summary: This position is in support of Naval projects/programs and requires the ability to conduct software development used within the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) weapon system. Individuals will primarily support a Senior Amentum developer in development using Agile development principles.
• Skills/Experience Requirements: Familiarity with Agile Development
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to perform analysis and problem-solving techniques in support of professional scientific/engineering work
• Ability to work independently and with others within established teams, across organizations, to meet established goals within schedule driven timelines.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive on and off base.

Preferred Qualifications: The following experience is a plus

• Embedded systems, GNC algorithms, and High/Low/Medium Fidelity Simulators
• 1+ Years of Surface Combat Systems or DoW Weapons System sustainment expertise.
• Sustainment of software systems on surface ships and subsurface boats.
• Systems engineering expertise for the development and integration of software systems on surface ships and subsurface boats.

Compensation Details

US: $80,000 to $100,000
