Job summary

BrightView Landscapes, LLC is seeking a Landscape Leadsman to perform and direct a range of landscape and irrigation installation and maintenance tasks. The role oversees crew safety, directs activities such as planting, sod installation, and sprinkler setup, and ensures safety standards are followed.

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of landscape experience, knowledge of OSHA standards, and the ability to lead a 2–4 person crew.

• Ability to lead a crew of 2–4 people
• Bilingual Spanish is a plus
• Practice workplace safety

Responsibilities

• Operate landscaping and irrigation tasks including planting, sod installation, and sprinkler setup
• Oversee crew safety and compliance on job sites
• Attend and enforce weekly tailgate safety meetings
• Identify and mitigate potential hazards near traffic or water
• Maintain hazardous communication with chemical usage records
• Report accidents and coordinate with Safety Officer
• Help complete projects on time with quality and safety

Job Summary

• The Landscape Leadsman is responsible for performing a wide range of landscape and irrigation installation and maintenance tasks. This position oversees crew safety and compliance while performing and directing landscape and irrigation tasks such as planting, sod installation, and sprinkler setup.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment to perform landscaping and irrigation tasks such as laying sod, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, and installing sprinklers
• Ensure that all employees attend the weekly tailgate meetings
• Follow and enforce safety standards by:
  • Identify and review potential traffic hazards
  • Perform hard hats and safety gear checks
  • Conduct underground utility and trade hazard reviews
  • Ensure general public safety around the job site
• Maintain a hazardous communication folder, including all relevant forms for chemicals used on the job site
• Report reckless or dangerous activities to the job Superintendent; notify the Safety Officer of any accidents and submit accident reports according to company policy requirements
• Support the team in completing projects on time while maintaining quality and safety standards

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience
• Knowledge of OSHA Standards
• 6 months commercial landscape experience preferred
• Able to lead and direct a crew of 2 to 4 people
• Practice workplace safety
• Bilingual (Spanish) a plus

Physical Demands/Requirements:

• Use hand equipment with mechanized moving blades, such as gas-powered shears
• Use manual hand tools such as shovels
• Work at elevated heights, including on an 8-foot A-frame ladder
• Use a hand shovel for an extended period
• Moves soil, equipment, and materials, digs holes, and plants trees, shrubs, and flowers
• Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. (mulch, fertilizer, etc.)
• Ability to load/unload burlaps with plant cuttings onto trailer (up to 50 lbs.)
• Ability to bend, stoop, and twist continuously throughout the day

Work Environment:

• Work in/or about situations near direct automotive traffic
• Work near or about natural bodies of water
• Work 8+ hours per day with applicable breaks x 5 days/week (some overtime/weekend work required)
• Ability to work in extreme conditions – temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit
• Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time
