Description: Our client is currently seeking a Buying Manager - Food Commodities

Location: North Billerica, MA (Onsite) Position

Job Title: Buying/Procurement Manager – Food Commodities

About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Buying/Procurement Manager to oversee the sourcing and purchasing of essential food commodities, including flour, eggs, sugar, and related ingredients. This role is a combination of individual contribution and managerial responsibilities, requiring expertise in supply chain management, vendor relations, and cost optimization. As a key part of our procurement team, you will ensure the seamless acquisition of high-quality ingredients while managing supplier partnerships and negotiating favorable contracts.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement strategies for food commodities, ensuring supply continuity and cost efficiency.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, negotiating contracts and pricing to meet company objectives.
• Monitor market trends, commodity pricing, and industry developments to anticipate supply chain disruptions.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including operations, quality assurance, and finance, to align purchasing decisions with business goals.
• Conduct supplier assessments, ensuring compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and sustainability practices.
• Manage procurement budgets, track expenditures, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
• Oversee inventory levels and coordinate with logistics to optimize storage and distribution.
• Develop, monitor, and analyze inventory levels using predictive tools for the purchasing team.
  
  

Lead and mentor junior team members, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in food commodity procurement, with a strong understanding of pricing, sourcing, and contract negotiations.
• At least 2+ years of management experience, with a proven ability to lead and mentor a team.
• Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and drive strategic sourcing initiatives.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret market trends and data.
• Microsoft Excel Excellent
• Communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience in managing procurement budgets and achieving cost-saving targets.
• Knowledge of food industry regulations and quality assurance standards. Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
