Job summary

Visby Medical, Inc. in San Jose, CA is seeking a Temporary Supply Chain Specialist to analyze demand forecasts and develop robust purchasing plans. You will lead supplier sourcing, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier performance while driving lean, compliant Procure‑to‑Pay activities.

The role requires strong ERP/MRP experience, Excel expertise, and the ability to collaborate with Legal, Quality, and Finance. Temporary role with potential conversion to full-time based on performance.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Strong understanding of inventory turns, days of inventory, and other supply chain KPIs.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing ISO-regulated environment (medical device preferred).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP).
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze demand forecasts and MRP/MPS output to develop purchasing and inventory plans.
  • Lead supplier sourcing, RFQ/RFP processes, and bid analysis to identify qualified suppliers.
  • Negotiate and manage supplier contracts and pricing agreements.
  • Confer with vendors on product information, lead times, and quotes.
  • Develop and maintain long-term supplier relationships and drive supplier improvements.
  • Track supplier ship commitments and expedite as needed to match production plans.
  • Support supplier qualification, incoming material control, and MRB disposition with Quality.
  • Collaborate with Legal to route contracts for review and signature.
  • Partner with Finance to resolve procure-to-pay issues and improve payment cycles.
  • Lead Procure-to-Pay process improvements leveraging ERP/MRP tools.
  • Monitor key supply chain metrics and drive corrective actions.

Primary Position Responsibilities
  • Analyze demand forecasts and MRP/MPS output to develop purchasing and inventory plans that ensure material availability while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Lead supplier sourcing, RFQ/RFP processes, and bid analysis to identify and qualify suppliers that meet cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
  • Negotiate and manage supplier contracts and pricing agreements within scope of authority to secure the most favorable business terms, including cost, quality and availability.
  • Confer with vendors on product information, lead times, and delivery schedules, and review quotes for accuracy and competitive positioning.
  • Develop and maintain strategic, long-term supplier relationships, serving as the primary point of contact and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend new suppliers to strengthen the supply base and mitigate single-source risk.
  • Track and manage supplier ship commitments, escalating and expediting as needed to ensure parts availability against production build plans.
  • Support supplier qualification, incoming material control, and material review board (MRB) disposition in partnership with Quality.
  • Partner with Legal to ensure contracts are routed for appropriate review and signature.
  • Collaborate with Finance and cross‑functional stakeholders to resolve procure‑to‑pay issues and improve payment cycle efficiency.
  • Lead implementation of improved Procure‑to‑Pay processes and controls, leveraging ERP/MRP systems and tools.
  • Monitor and report key supply chain metrics (inventory turns, days of inventory, on‑time delivery, fill rate) and drive corrective actions with suppliers.
  • Participate in S&OP and lean manufacturing initiatives, providing supply chain data and analysis to support cross‑functional planning decisions.

Qualified candidates should possess the following skill sets and attributes:
Education
  • Degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and professional experience.
Experience, Skills, And Attributes
  • Strong understanding of inventory turns, days of inventory, and other supply chain KPIs, with the ability to analyze data and drive improvement.
  • Experience in a fast‑paced, high‑volume manufacturing environment within an ISO‑regulated industry (medical device strongly preferred).
  • Computer proficiency
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs
    • Advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP formulas) required. You will be asked to demonstrate your skills.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and hands‑on experience with MRP systems required.
    • Experience with SAP or similar ERP platforms (Oracle, NetSuite) is desirable; APICS/CSCP or CPSM certification is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work cross‑functionally and build positive relationships with suppliers
