Job summary

Technical Professionals Group seeks a Buyer/Procurement Analyst in Portland, OR to secure correct parts at the right time. You will coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure accurate specifications and timely communications.

You will analyze data, manage supplier performance, and drive continuous improvements across the supply chain to support automotive programs. A Bachelor's degree and 2–5 years of related experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Advanced MS Excel knowledge and MS PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills.

  • Proactive, driven, self-starter and quick learner with the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with engineering, program management and other departments to understand technology developments, design changes and future decisions within the global supply chain.
  • Interface with suppliers, build shops, engineering, launch/change management, manufacturing engineering, accounting, ITC and purchasing teams to ensure timely communications of specifications.
  • Ensure suppliers have plans and strategies to achieve delivery targets and fulfill all order requirements.
  • Facilitate supplier performance management and broaden supplier network through trials and diversification.
  • Procure relevant vehicle components and special orders, including support for plant-built test trucks and expedites as needed.
  • Manage quality and delivery activities with suppliers, including escalation steps.
  • Proactively report "at risk" parts during truck build status meetings.
  • Apply critical thinking and innovative solutions to logistics issues.
  • Work on cross-functional teams to deliver results on test programs and large events.
  • Support low-volume non-production purchasing activities as required.
  • Initiate and support continuous process improvements within PVE Procurement.
  • Identify unfavorable supply-chain trends and work with leadership on containment strategies.

Job description

Technical Professionals Group is seeking a Buyer/Procurement Analyst who is a procurement, materials, and supply chain/logistics expert for North America's leading heavy-duty truck manufacturer in Portland, OR.

With your help, the team and the department will receive correct parts at the right place and time. With your ability to coordinate with our expanding supply-base, the team and management will be well-informed to the status surrounding orders and deliveries. The right person will understand and manage suppliers and the demanding project expectations while informing and appropriately escalating challenges in a timely and pro-active manner. With your positive and can-do attitude, you will bring our team and our projects together making our processes state of the art for other departments to follow.

Responsibilities
  • Develop relationships with engineering and program management within various departments of the customer and development partners to understand technology developments, design changes and future business decisions within the global supply chain
  • Interface with suppliers, PVE Build Shops, n Engineering, Launch& Change Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Accounting, International Trade Compliance (ITC) and Production and Aftermarket Purchasing teams to ensure timely and accurate communications of specifications
  • Ensure suppliers have complete plans and strategies in place to achieve delivery targets and fulfil all order requirements
  • Facilitate Supplier Performance Management, relationship building, and build an increased Prototype Supplier network via new supplier trials and portfolio diversification efforts.
  • Procure relevant vehicle components and special orders, including support of Plant-Built Test Trucks, ad-hoc requests, and expedites where required
  • Manage quality and delivery activities with suppliers including target controlling and escalation steps
  • Pro-actively report out "at risk" parts during truck build status meetings
  • Apply critical thinking and innovative solutions to logistics issues
  • Work on cross-functional teams to deliver results, including Summer Test/Winter Test, internal logistics teams, Plant-Built-Test-Trucks, or other larger test events
  • Support low-volume Non-Production Purchasing activities, as required
  • Initiate and support continuous process improvements, within and without PVE Procurement
  • Recognize unfavorable supply-chain trends and work with leadership on containment strategies
Knowledge You Should Bring
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university/college and 2-5 years of relevant experience

Exceptional Candidates Might Have
  • Degree focus in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, Project Management or related field preferred
  • Previous automotive/industry experience
  • Strong communication and project management skills
  • Demonstrated Continuous Improvement Mindset
  • Experience with order exception management and escalation
  • Experience and familiarity with Wiring Harness Commodities
  • Supplier tooling, Fab Shop, Existing Supply Base, Work Order Processes, Change Management, and Confidentiality knowledge and experience
