Job summary

Globus Medical in Massachusetts is seeking a proactive Supply Chain Buyer to manage planning and purchasing for mechanical components. Position Summary

We're looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Supply Chain Buyer to manage the planning and purchasing activities for assigned mechanical and machined components. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate MRP and supplier information, managing purchase orders, monitoring supplier performance, and ensuring materials are available to support production schedules. You'll work closely with Planning, Production Control, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and suppliers to resolve supply issues, support new product introductions and engineering changes, and identify opportunities to improve cost, delivery, inventory, and overall supply chain performance. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, solving problems, and building strong supplier relationships in a fast-paced, regulated medical device manufacturing environment.

Essential Functions
  • Owns the buy/plan cycle for assigned mechanical and machined component parts within the ERP (MRP action messages, PO creation/maintenance, lead time and Supplier parameters)
  • Executes weekly MRP review, resolving exceptions (past-due, reschedule-in/out, quantity changes) and reconciling supplier commit dates against system need dates
  • Monitors supplier on-time delivery (OTD) and purchase price variance (PPV) for assigned commodities; builds recurring reporting and escalates trends to Strategic Sourcing
  • Maintains data integrity of item master for machined/mechanical parts
  • Partners with Manufacturing and Production Control to align build plans with supplier capacity, flagging constraints that put build schedules at risk
  • Supports new part introduction (NPI) and engineering change orders by setting up planning parameters and coordinating first-article and DCO timing with suppliers
  • Investigates and resolves receiving discrepancies, invoice mismatches, and non-conformances in coordination with Quality and Accounts Payable
  • Identifies opportunities for planning parameter optimization, EDI/system automation, and reduction of manual, spreadsheet-based workarounds
  • Adheres to the letter and spirit of the company Code of Conduct, the AdvaMed Code, MedTech Code, and all other company policies
  • Ensures Compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance as it applies to your role
  • Represents the company in a professional manner and upholds the highest standards of ethical business practices and socially responsible conduct in all interactions with other employees, customers, suppliers, and other third parties

Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Microsoft AX, Oracle, SAP, or similar) for purchase order management and demand planning
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, basic modeling); comfort working with large data sets to identify trends and outliers
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications for machined components
  • Clear written and verbal communication for supplier negotiation and cross-functional coordination
  • Organized, detail-oriented approach to managing a high transaction volume across multiple part numbers and suppliers
  • PERFORM DUTIES IN COMPLIANCE WITH APPLICABLE FDA AND STATE REGULATIONS AS WELL AS STANDARDS INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ISO 13485
  • Exposure to BI/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar) for building supplier and inventory dashboards
  • Experience with machined or mechanical component sourcing (CNC, casting, forging, or sheet metal)
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP) or progress toward one
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Typically requires a minimum of 3 - 5 years of related buying/planning experience
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device, aerospace, or similar) preferred
