Job summary

Modern Corporation is seeking a Buyer-Planner I to collaborate with Fleet Maintenance Operations on procurement of materials and services, ensuring right order quantities, lead times, and adherence to SOPs. You will work with maintenance and purchasing supervision on sourcing plans and tactical actions, including special projects, on the second shift (3:00 - 11:30 PM).

Qualifications

• Associates degree required, business preferred.
• At least 1 year of purchasing/material planning experience; 3 years preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of service center for medium/heavy duty fleet, equipment & parts management.
• Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills with diverse audiences.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to analyze large data sets.
• Strong working knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Responsibilities

• Place and manage purchase orders to ensure continuous supply of materials and services.
• Engage with suppliers on basic negotiations and pricing oversight to ensure a competitive supply chain.
• Collaborate with Buyer-Planners II/III, maintenance staff and suppliers on warranty recovery.
• Facilitate inventory systems as set by procurement organization.
• Monitor and manage inventory of purchased components; include year-end reconciliation.
• Ensure compliance with the company’s standard purchase terms and communicate requirements to suppliers.
• Assist maintenance technicians with parts dispensing and inventory reconciliation.
• Travel up to 3% for emergencies to retrieve parts from suppliers or cross-campus locations.
• Perform additional duties assigned by management.

Job description

The Buyer-Planner I shall collaborate with Fleet Maintenance Operations to review and process purchase requisitions of materials/services at the right order quantity, the required lead-time and according to the organization’s procurement standard operating procedure. Buyer-Planner I will engage with both maintenance and purchasing supervision to support sourcing plans, any special projects/programs and execute tactical actions within the supply chain. This position is expected to be second shift (3:00 - 11:30 PM).

Essential Responsibilities

• Ensure a continuous supply of materials and services by placing and managing purchase orders
• Engage with suppliers on basic negotiations & pricing oversight to ensure a competitive supply chain
• Collaborate closely with Buyer-Planners II / III, maintenance staff and suppliers on warranty recovery
• Be facilitators of inventory systems set-forth by the procurement organization
• Monitor, record, and manage inventory of purchased components within assigned areas of responsibility – including year-end inventory reconciliation
• Ensure compliance with the company’s standard purchase terms and conditions, and continuously communicate these requirements to suppliers
• Assist maintenance technicians with parts dispensing to fulfill repair work-orders and perform inventory reconciliation
• 3% travel for emergencies – may need to retrieve parts from suppliers or a cross-campus location
• Additional duties assigned by management may apply

Education And Experience

• Associates degree in any area of study is required, preferably in business
• At least one (1) year of purchasing and/or material planning experience, three (3) years preferred
• Experience with ERP systems preferred but not required
• Relevant knowledge of service center for medium/heavy duty fleet, equipment & parts management
• Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to aggregate and analyze large data set.
• Strong working knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
