Job summary

Keytronic Corporation seeks a Procurement/Planner professional to support production by purchasing, expediting, and negotiating materials using an MRP system. This role maintains data integrity, analyzes reports, and supports new product initiatives with cross-functional teams.

Minimum experience includes 3–5 years in purchasing or supplier relations, plus a solid understanding of MRP logic and cost reduction strategies.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or higher in supply chain management, business, or related field.
  • Three-to-five years experience in planning, purchasing, contract negotiations, or supplier relations.
  • Deep knowledge of purchasing and scheduling module logic in MRP systems.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities; ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups and complex data.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and administers contracts for assigned commodities and negotiates with suppliers.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve lead times, fill rates, quality, and cost.
  • Maintains MRP data integrity and generates Purchase Orders supporting MRP requirements.
  • Interfaces with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Scheduling, and suppliers to resolve issues.
  • Participates in process improvement and supplier evaluations to meet company goals.

JOB SUMMARY

Under direct supervision, performs routine planning and procurement of various commodities using a mainframe MRP system. Plans, purchases, expedites, and negotiates materials in support of production schedules and capital/MRO material and service requirements. Maintains the MRP system data and its integrity, prepares and analyzes reports, and supports project management of existing and new products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Reviews and administers contracts for assigned commodities. Assists in establishing partnership relationships with suppliers that support company goals and objectives.
  • Assists in developing and implementing programs with suppliers and internal cross-functional team members that address lead time production, order fill rate performance, quality performance, cost reduction, and technical improvements.
  • Evaluates and maintains the material requirements plan for assigned commodities and ensures systems validity and integrity by inputting and adjusting records according to company and/or department guidelines.
  • As a fiduciary agent of the company, utilizes system to generate and adjust purchase orders in support of MRP requirements and effectively communicates areas of concern to appropriate departments, individuals, and suppliers.
  • Interfaces within a cross-functional team regularly meeting with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Scheduling, and suppliers to resolve any issues.
  • Assists in evaluating new suppliers and materials in conjunction with Quality Assurance and Engineering in support of company goals and objectives.
  • Participate in department process improvement and training teams. Assists a cross-functional team with non-conforming material.
  • Crisis Mitigation/Escalation Capable of escalating to, and resolving issues with, suppliers general leadership.
  • Ownership of Workbench Capable of ensuring timely and effective completion of Shortage Report, Late P.O.s, MRP Action Messages, and SIMs. Manages higher volume of higher dollar value parts with more complex attributes.
  • Costing Knowledge (Total Cost of Ownership (TCO))/Negotiation Possess advanced knowledge of material costing, including many of the elements of TCO. Capable of not only buying components at Target Cost, but also able to drive favorable PPV. Understands commodity market trends, and uses this knowledge to mitigate cost increases from suppliers.
  • Business Acumen/Situational Awareness Possess advanced reasoning skills to understand situations and make business decisions that usually result in a positive outcome for KTC. Also, has knowledge and understanding of the financial and operational functions of the Corporation. Fully comprehends ramifications of making poor business decisions.
  • Supplier Relations Capable of having business discussions with suppliers general leadership.
  • Product Knowledge Possess advanced commodity knowledge. Knowledgeable of component datasheets, specifications, and drawings. Also, cognizant of the component pricing history. Rudimentary understanding of the manufacturing process for the commodity.
  • Logistics Advanced knowledge of Key Tronic Routing Guide and of current IncoTerms. Also, comprehends impact of actions/inactions of non-compliance. Is expected to develop and propose alternate plans to mitigate negative impacts of non-compliance (including consolidating shipments into larger containers, etc.).
OTHER FUNCTIONS
  • Compiles data and prepares reports as requested and required by purchasing management.
  • Attends meetings as needed to support cross-functional team objectives.
  • Performs other responsibilities when required that are outside of normal job duties.
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associates Degree or higher education in supply chain management, business, or related field.
  • Three-to-five years experience in a manufacturing environment in planning, purchasing, contract negotiations, or supplier relations. Must have a deep knowledge of purchasing and scheduling module logic in MRP systems.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to relate to and work with diverse groups of people.
  • Must have knowledge of use and operation of standard office equipment and be familiar with commonly used email, Internet, word processing, databases and spreadsheets.
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and materials. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor Degree in supply chain management, materials, operations, business, or related field.
  • Five-plus years direct procurement experience with strong knowledge of MRP systems.
  • CPIM, CPM, or other related certification.
  • Experience in Contract Manufacturing and EMS industry desired with an emphasis in supporting an offshore manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish, Vietnamese, and/or Chinese.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, talk, hear, and see. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or reach with hands and arms. The employee will regularly multi-task between projects, be required to move throughout the office building, and effectively communicate.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The environment is fast-paced; time pressured, and requires accuracy. The normal environment is quiet and typical of an open cubical setting with some areas that may be louder at times
