Job summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Buyer/Planner to manage purchasing and material planning for fabrication operations. You will drive procurement activities, plan material requirements, and ensure timely delivery to support project schedules.

The role requires experience in purchasing or production planning, proficiency with Excel, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in purchasing, procurement, material planning, or production planning.
• Manufacturing, fabrication, construction, or architectural products experience preferred.
• Strong organization and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Experience managing purchase orders, vendors, and material lead times.
• Working knowledge of inventory management and ERP/MRP systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to read bills of materials, specifications, or manufacturing documentation is a plus.
• Experience purchasing metals, aluminum, glass, hardware, finishes, or construction-related materials is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Purchase materials, components, hardware, and supplies for fabrication projects.
• Plan material requirements based on production schedules, inventory, and project timelines.
• Issue and manage purchase orders through delivery.
• Monitor vendor lead times and proactively address shortages or delays.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier quotes based on cost, quality, availability, and lead time.
• Coordinate purchasing priorities with production, engineering, and project management.
• Maintain supplier relationships and identify alternative sources when needed.
• Track inventory and open orders using ERP/MRP systems.
• Resolve pricing, quantity, delivery, and quality discrepancies.
• Help improve purchasing efficiency, material availability, and cost.

We are seeking an organized and proactive Buyer / Planner to manage purchasing and material planning for our fabrication operations.
