A Day in the Life

This role supports supply chain planning and procurement activities for operations in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The function is responsible for ensuring the timely sourcing, planning, scheduling, and movement of materials required to support manufacturing operations, inventory objectives, and customer demand. The position partners closely with production, engineering, warehouse, and supplier teams to maintain continuity of supply and support operational performance. The Buyer/Planner is responsible for planning and executing procurement and material planning activities that support manufacturing operations. This role analyzes material requirements, coordinates supply and demand activities, manages supplier interactions, and helps ensure materials are available to meet production schedules while balancing cost, quality, and inventory objectives. Primary Responsibilities

Required Knowledge and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience.
  • Nice to have:
    Experience utilizing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems for purchasing, planning, or inventory management activities.
  • Experience analyzing material requirements, inventory levels, demand forecasts, and production schedules.
  • Experience working cross‑functionally with operations, engineering, suppliers, and other business partners.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or medical device production environments.
  • Experience with materials requirements planning (MRP) and inventory optimization processes.
  • Experience evaluating supplier performance and managing supplier relationships.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis for planning and procurement decision‑making.
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$67,200.00 - $100,800.00. This position is eligible for a short‑term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
