Job summary

Amtech Systems is seeking a Buyer/Planner to manage complex logistics, scheduling, and procurement for major projects in development, construction, and maintenance. You will forecast requirements, place POs, and align with Engineering and Operations to optimize materials flow.

The role requires experience with MRP systems, CPIM or related certification, and strong collaboration across teams to meet deadlines and budgets. On-site role based in Carlisle, PA, supporting ISO safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or higher in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, or related field; bachelor’s preferred.
  • 2+ years’ experience with made-to-order products/equipment, inventory control or scheduling using MRP.
  • Experience scheduling projects with an MRP system.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects within time, quality, and cost constraints.
  • Proficient in creating detailed, realistic production schedules for operational efficiency.

Job description

Job Summary

The Buyer/Planner will provide complex logistics and scheduling related technical support and effectively manage the project schedules to assigned internal client groups for major projects planning, development, procurement, construction and maintenance activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare forecasts and determine order quantities for materials and services.
  • Place purchase orders to ensure timely and accurate delivery of required materials and supplies.
  • Analyze make/buy decisions and provide recommendations to managers to maximize cost efficiency.
  • Compare product costs against standard costs for offshore purchases and related lead times.
  • Follow up on production schedules to ensure timely delivery.
  • Address material needs due to Engineering Change Order (ECO) analysis and implementation.
  • Issue purchase orders for raw materials and manage component inventory.
  • Use Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) reports and data to track departmental performance and manage work order backlog.
  • Support engineering change controls, maintenance plans, task lists, and new equipment records.
  • Coordinate inspections, calibrations, preventive maintenance, and project workloads.
  • Prepare and maintain weekly maintenance schedules, including plant outage planning.
  • Coordinate and document vendor services, including obtaining quotes and generating purchase orders for contractor labor.
  • Work with the Project Manager, Team Leaders, and Department Managers to prepare detailed schedules and analyze manpower loading reports.
  • Adhere to all safety and ISO policies and procedures.
  • Fill in for Shipping Coordinator when necessary.
Qualifications
  • Associates degree or higher in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related field, or equivalent additional years of experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years’ experience made‑to‑order products/equipment, computer‑assisted production and inventory control systems, or 2+ years’ experience in scheduling projects through the use of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) system.
  • Experience in scheduling projects with a Material Requirement Planning (MRP) system.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, ensuring completion within established time, quality, and cost constraints.
  • Skilled in creating detailed, realistic production schedules to ensure operational efficiency.
Skills & Competencies
  • Ability to work independently and on a team to meet time sensitive deadlines.
  • Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) certification or achieve the certification within 12 months in the role.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate cross-functionally and build positive relationships both internally and externally.
  • Proficient in math to analyze production data, create schedules, and manage budgets.
  • Advanced computer skills, with expertise in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook), and ERP systems (D365).
  • Team-oriented, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
  • Proficient in verifying accuracy of daily transactions in ERP (D365) production and yield reporting systems.
  • Experience updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and managing material master data in ERP (D365), including managing raw material, packaging, and finished goods transfers, scrap, and blocking in ERP (D365).
  • Strong attention to detail and proactive in handling customer inquiries, quotes, and resolving technical, administrative, and commercial issues.
  • Capable of monitoring and managing project budgets, and supporting monthly Job Cost Forecasts.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Program Management to develop effective plans and achieve program objectives within contractual requirements.
  • Experienced in compiling, analyzing, and maintaining inventory reports for raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods.
