Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a contribution motivated Buyer to support our Leaf River Cellulose site in New Augusta, MS. The role involves high-volume, time-critical purchasing of MRO, direct materials, chemicals, spare parts and external services from vendors.

This onsite role reports to the Purchasing Manager. You will use Ariba, ISNET and AS8, process POs from requisitions, negotiate terms, and ensure contracts reflect agreed conditions.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or 2 years of procurement experience.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to safety, environmental and purchasing policies, guidelines and procedures.
• Process purchase orders from requisitions using the company’s purchasing system.
• Ensure contracts reflect terms, including payment, freight, incoterms and key commercial terms.
• Issue RFQs, analyze quotes, negotiate price and terms, select suppliers by total cost of ownership.
• Leverage strategic supply agreements to maximize value.
• Collaborate with internal customers to understand requirements and timing.
• Demonstrate strong customer focus and urgency in duties.
• Communicate verbally and in writing to provide status updates to customers and suppliers.
• Analyze root causes of accounts payable exceptions and resolve them.
• Initiate changes to improve purchasing processes.
• Manage time to accomplish goals and prioritize tasks.
• Administer contractor tools including Ariba, ISNET and AS8.
• Facilitate large bidding events through Ariba and document information.

Job description

We are looking for a contribution motivated Buyer to support our Georgia-Pacific Leaf River Cellulose site. The role includes purchasingactivities in a high volume, time-critical environment. The buyer will gain experience with Maintenance Repair and Operating (MRO) supplies, direct materials, chemicals, equipment spare parts and outside services from external vendors. This role reports directly to the Purchasing Manager.

This is an onsite role at our facility in New Augusta, MS.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Georgia-Pacific’s Strategic Sourcing & Procurement (SS&P) organization is responsible for the strategic category management, sourcing and procurement of the critical supplies and materials that support our facilities. The SS&P organization partners with our business partners and leverages best practices to uniquely position the team to improve decision making capabilities and capture significant savings and efficiency opportunities.

What You Will Do

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Associate’s degree or 2 years of procurement experience in a similar field (e.g. project management, warehousing, accounting, supply chain)
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Teams, Microsoft Word (document creation), Excel (spreadsheets), and Outlook (email and calendar)
