Hubbell's Switching and Fusing location in Leeds, AL is looking for a strong procurement or purchasing professional to join their team as a Buyer. The Buyer is responsible for procuring raw materials to support production schedules and customer demand while maintaining inventory performance. This role works closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure material availability, manage inventory levels, and support efficient supply chain operations. The Buyer utilizes SAP to manage purchasing activities, supplier performance, and material planning while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Manage supplier relationships, purchase orders, and order expediting activities.
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Resolve shortages, quality concerns, and delivery issues with suppliers.
  • Support supplier reviews, performance metrics, and corrective action activities.
  • Collaborate with sourcing and leadership on supplier risks, capacity concerns, and sourcing opportunities.
Material Planning & Inventory Management
  • Execute purchasing activities to support production requirements and customer demand.
  • Review MRP recommendations and purchasing exception messages in SAP.
  • Monitor inventory levels and recommend planning parameter adjustments, including lead times, order quantities, and safety stock levels.
  • Support forecasting, inventory optimization, and supplier capacity planning activities.
Systems & Process Management
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier data in SAP.
  • Manage supplier communications through approved systems.
  • Support process improvements, SAP enhancements, and data integrity initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Planning, Production, Quality, Engineering, and Warehouse teams to ensure material availability.
  • Communicate supply risks and recovery plans to stakeholders.
  • Support new product launches, engineering changes, and material transitions.
  • Assist with warehouse and PFEP initiatives as needed.
  • Analyze purchasing, inventory, and supplier performance data.
  • Prepare KPI reports and support inventory, supplier, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Purchasing Supervisor and/or Materials Manager.
