Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated seeks a Senior Planner to lead timely procurement and planning for materials to support the master production schedule in an onsite role in Aiken, SC. You will optimize inventory, expedite deliveries, and ensure alignment with quality specs at best price.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or General Engineering is required.
  • 3–6 years of Purchasing and Planning experience is required.
  • Microsoft Word & Excel knowledge is required.
  • SAP or a similar ERP system experience is required.
  • APICS certification would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of a variety of commodities would be a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, plus good time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Travel may be required (up to 10%).

Responsibilities

  • Research sources of supply and alternative materials, document competitive quoting, review and process purchase requisitions for materials and supplies.
  • Follow up on back orders of manufactured and procured materials, expedite delivery of orders, and communicate expected delivery dates to departments.
  • Plan the manufacture of all products through the production facility and release production orders on time.
  • Ensure purchasing and planning documents are processed in accordance with SOPs.
  • Update SAP data and reconcile PO discrepancies with vendor and accounting staff.
  • Maintain reorder points, reorder quantities and lead-times in inventory procedures.
  • Conduct negotiations with vendors on rejections, disposition, and non-conforming materials.
  • Promote and maintain good business relationships with suppliers.
  • Recommend cost-saving procedures and stay informed of new commodity developments.
  • Share updates with the Materials department and support plant-wide safety initiatives.

The Senior Planner is responsible for the timely planning and procurement of materials, supplies and equipment needed in support of the master production schedule. Optimize inventory in assigned areas and procure in accordance with quality specifications at the best possible price. Individual would also be responsible for expediting deliveries, clarification of specifications, and planning/scheduling to meet customer requirements. This is an onsite position in Aiken, SC.

  • Research sources of supply and alternative materials, document competitive quoting, review and process purchase requisitions for materials and supplies.
  • Follow up on back orders of manufactured and procured materials, expedite delivery of orders, make special arrangements for delivery as needed, and communicate to the respective departments the expected delivery dates and potential shortages
  • Plan the manufacture of all products through the production facility in accordance with assembly procedures and standard times. Release production orders in the required time frame.
  • Ensure purchasing and planning documents are processed in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Update SAP data as needed and work with vendor and/or accounting to reconcile PO discrepancies.
  • Have knowledge of inventory procedures in establishing and maintaining reorder points, reorder quantities and lead-times.
  • Conduct or direct negotiations with vendors on rejections, disposition, and adjustment of non-conforming materials.
  • Promote and maintain good business relationships with suppliers.

Recommend procedures to improve quality and reduce costs, as well as keep informed of new developments in related commodities. Share updates with the Materials department. Support plant-wide Safety initiatives
