Job summary

Airswift is seeking a Buyer IV in Houston, TX for a hybrid role supporting a major energy-sector capital expansion. The role requires a university degree in Business or Supply Chain, at least 7 years of relevant experience, and strong negotiation

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in supply chain management or procurement.
  • Experience purchasing complex electrical equipment for large energy projects.
  • Experience leading sourcing for complex, long lead-time, high-value equipment and service contracts.
  • Background supporting large capital projects and understanding market capacity to meet in-service dates.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for electrical equipment and services for a major capital expansion project.
  • Lead RFx events, bid evaluations, negotiations, and contract execution.
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance with limited supervision.
  • Coordinate with governance, legal, quality, and expediting functions to mitigate risks.
  • Utilize Oracle ERP for purchase orders and data tracking to support project timelines.

Job Title: Buyer IV

Duration: 1 year Schedule: Hybrid Location: Houston, TX

This opportunity offers involvement in procurement and sourcing activities supporting a major capital expansion project within the energy sector. The role focuses on complex electrical equipment, services contracts, RFx execution, contract negotiation, and supplier engagement in a hybrid office environment. This position will play an important part in helping the company deliver critical project outcomes through effective commercial and supply chain management.

Required Education

University degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in supply chain management or procurement.
  • Demonstrated experience purchasing complex electrical equipment for large energy projects.
  • Experience leading sourcing for complex, long lead-time, high-value equipment and service contracts.
  • Background supporting large capital projects and understanding market capacity requirements to meet project in-service dates.
  • Experience using ERP systems for purchase order creation, specifically Oracle R12 or Oracle Cloud.
Required Skills
  • Strong capability in sourcing strategy development, proposal solicitation, bid evaluation, technical and commercial clarifications, negotiation, and contract execution.
  • In-depth knowledge of RFx development and execution, contract preparation, and contract management.
  • Proven ability to mark up and negotiate complex commercial contracts.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation, influencing, and persuasive skills.
  • Ability to explain deviations from standard terms and conditions on commercial matters and support alternative positions where needed.
  • Ability to monitor and manage supplier relationships and supplier performance with minimal supervision.
  • Strong planning, reporting, forecasting, and communication skills related to supply chain activities.
  • Ability to contribute to risk mitigation planning and work collaboratively across governance, quality, legal, and expediting functions.
  • Commitment to compliance with supply chain and enterprise governance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of procurement experience in power, electrical transmission, liquids, or natural gas energy industries.
  • Postgraduate qualification or MBA.
  • SCMP, CPSM, or equivalent professional designation.
