Job summary

Hamilton Company is seeking a Buyer II/III Direct Materials to manage direct material purchases for assigned commodities in support of MRP. You will negotiate costs, source new suppliers, ensure on-time delivery, and collaborate with engineering and accounting to optimize supplier performance and risk mitigation.

The role requires 5+ years in purchasing, experience with multiple commodities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP/D365 experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Business, Supply chain or related field required.
  • 5+ years of purchasing experience.
  • 3+ years in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Experience managing multiple commodities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with D365 and SAP a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate costs, evaluate and maintain inventory to target safety stock levels
  • Work with accounting to set up new suppliers
  • Coordinate with accounting to resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Proactively manage P.O’s for accuracy including costs and confirmed delivery dates
  • Work with engineering and key stakeholders in implement risk mitigation plans for single sourced suppliers
  • Proactively resolve production and provide updates to affected groups
  • Review assigned NCR’s and process returns to suppliers in a timely manner
  • Monitor and report KPI’s with key suppliers and drive improved performance
  • Monitor suppliers lead time and update system as required
  • Work Closely with NPI Project teams on transfer of products from NPI to production ensuring material coverage thru component lead times
  • Maintain strong cross functional relationships and communication with intercompany departments supported by purchasing
  • Intercompany purchasing

Responsibilities

The Buyer II / III Direct Materials is responsible for purchasing direct materials for their assigned commodities per MRP requirements from approved suppliers. Collaborate with key stakeholders to implement commodity strategies to mitigate risk, ensure supply and drive cost efficiencies. Review order action report and take appropriate actions

Qualifications
  • Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications Excel, Power point etc
  • Ability to communicate with multiple levels of staff and management throughout the organization.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Possess effective collaborative, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Position requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
Education/Experience
  • BS/BA degree in Business, Supply chain or related field from a regionally accredited University.
  • 5+ years of purchasing experience
  • 3 plus years of a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Experience in managing multiple commodities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with D365 and SAP a plus
