Job summary

ADP, Inc. in Grand Rapids, MI seeks a Buyer I to manage inventory control, vendor relations, price negotiations, and PO processing. This full-time role reports to the Materials and Supply Chain Manager and supports multiple departments in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma (Bachelor’s preferred), 3+ years of purchasing experience, and strong communication skills. ERP/SAP proficiency and a professional appearance are valued, with minimal travel required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma
  • CPSM Certification Preferred
  • Goal oriented cost savings experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a buyer required
  • Strong computer related skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • ERP experience preferred SAP
  • Professional appearance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Vendor relations experience preferred
  • Experience working for an industrial product manufacturing company in a purchasing/buyer capacity preferred
  • Experience with inventory control preferred
  • Ability and experience in processing Purchase Orders in a timely manner

Responsibilities

  • Supports all Dept as a purchasing contact - enter purchase orders, obtain quotes, expedite, and document confirmations
  • Enters purchase orders and tracking of confirmations
  • Strong focus on cost savings and tracking
  • Change/update info records and source lists as requested
  • Assist Receiving Dept with discrepancies and information requests
  • Assists service field installation leads with purchase orders
  • Assist other Purchasing team members if needed

Job Purpose

The Buyer’s primary responsibilities encompass inventory control, vendor relations, price negotiations, and Purchase Order processing.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Excellent Communication skills and Professionalism
  • Supports all Dept as a purchasing contact- enter purchase orders, obtain quotes, expedite, and document order confirmations notifying departments of major pricing discrepancies
  • Enters purchase orders and tracking of confirmation
  • Strong focus on cost savings and tracking
  • Change / update info records and source lists as requested
  • Assist Receiving Dept with discrepancies and information requests
  • Assists service field installation leads with purchase orders
  • Assist other Purchasing team members if needed

Working Conditions

Mostly stationary work with occasional movement throughout the facility to access files, office machinery, etc. Works at a desk and a computer screen for extended periods of time. Employee must be able to manually enter data into the computer system and understand the screen and images that appear. Frequently lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs. Use of hands to hold, lift and handle materials. Occasional climbing, bending and squatting.
