Job summary

West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas, is seeking a Buyer I to perform entry-level purchasing duties with the purpose of obtaining supplies, equipment and routine services. Under supervision, you will process requisitions, prepare specifications, receive bids, award standard purchases, and issue purchase orders, while maintaining records and supporting invoicing and compliance training.

  • Bachelor's degree or combination of education and experience.
  • CTD (Certified Contract Developer) to be obtained within 12 months on start date.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of standard business terms and arithmetic.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.

Necessary Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience in accounting or similar field.

Due to budgetary reasons, West Texas A&M University will not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.
