Job summary

McLane in New Jersey is seeking a Division Buyer to manage inventory procurement for the Wawa Stores distribution center, leveraging McLane systems to meet service levels.

You will analyze sales trends, coordinate with suppliers, and ensure timely purchase orders, with day-one benefits and a competitive salary.

This role requires a bachelor’s degree in business, purchasing or inventory experience, and strong communication and Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
• Purchasing or inventory management background preferred.
• Management/supervisory experience preferred; sales experience helpful.
• Distributor or wholesale background.
• Proficient with Word, Excel and Access.
• Strong communication, time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• English reading/writing proficiency required for task execution and safety.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with suppliers, brokers, and customers to support service levels.
• Analyze sales and purchasing trends to plan seasonal strategies.
• Monitor service levels, DSII reporting, and inventory reports daily.
• Review past due and unconfirmed POs; manage three-day supply.
• Oversee warehouse receiving and inventory adjustments.
• Purchase following McLane policies to meet objectives.
• Assist with online distributions, overstock resolution, and weekly trips.
• Resolve invoice discrepancies and support seasonal planning.
• Serve as primary/secondary liaison with suppliers and customers.
• Develop tools to monitor supplier performance and asset management.
• Coordinate new item setup and ensure correct shipments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Division Buyer is responsible for the procurement and management of inventory (for the New Jersey distribution center servicing the Wawa Stores); utilizing various McLane Systems, applications and best practices to achieve the goals set forth for the department service level, DSII, overstocks, distributions, and inventory turns.

• Pay rate: $60,000 to $75,000 per year.
• This role is also eligible to participate in the annual incentive plan with a target incentive of 10% of your base annual salary.

What you’ll do as a Division Buyer:

• Work closely with and communicate well with suppliers, brokers, and customers, to include customer service, sales, accounting and operations.
• Analyze sales and purchasing trends to identify, plan and execute seasonal strategies and other changes in demand.
• Review daily service level, DSII reporting, daily out reports, promotional tracking and event calendar.
• Review of the past due and unconfirmed purchase orders report, three-day time supply.
• Review of warehouse receiving and inventory adjustments.
• Buy in accordance with the policies and best practices of McLane Company, adhering to the requirements necessary to meet individual, department and company objectives.
• Assist with purchasing, online distributions; overstock resolution and weekly filter trips.
• Assist in invoice discrepancies and seasonal planning as needed.
• Serve as primary or secondary contact and fosters positive and mutual beneficial relationship with suppliers and customer.
• Develop tools to monitor and improve supplier performance, using self-initiative and fact-based measurement criteria to improve asset management.
• Monitor new item setup and communicate with all necessary parties to insure items ship out correctly.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications you’ll bring as a Division Buyer:

• Have a bachelor's degree in business or related major.
• Possess purchasing or inventory management background preferred.
• Have management and supervisory experience preferred; some sales experience is also helpful.
• Have a distributor or wholesale background.
• Be knowledgeable of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
• Possess excellent communication, time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Be accurate and have attention to detail.
• This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
