Role Overview

As a Buyer- Category Analyst, you'll manage the procurement of products through our vendors, focusing on process efficiency, quality assurance, and operational risk minimization. You will monitor all assigned products throughout the purchasing cycle, establish product requirements, assign purchase orders, coordinate logistics, and maintain inventory levels as directed by the Director of Procurement. The ideal candidate is assertive, detail-oriented, with food purchasing experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Procure items within your assigned category
• Analyze products from multiple vendors
• Communicate with vendors and brokers regarding product issues
• Collaborate with internal departments on inventory management
• Identify buying opportunities and backhaul options
• Forecast inventory turns and analyze promotional activities
• Optimize demand planning tools for better forecasting
• Coordinate disposition of substandard products
• Build relationships with vendors and brokers

Position Requirements

• Food purchasing experience preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong mathematical and forecasting skills
• Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex systems
• Ability to work independently or in teams
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-volume environment
