BASIC FUNCTION:
The Buyer Assistant will perform a variety of specialized clerical duties related to the preparation and processing of contracts and purchase orders, and provide technical support in gathering information and assisting in the expediting of purchase order deliveries; contact district staff and vendors to follow-up on contracting issues, overdue, lost, and damaged materials; and provide customer service information to internal and external customers.
VACANCY / POSITION SPECIFICS:
This is a PROMOTIONAL/OPEN opportunity, which means that current monthly salaried employees receive precedence over other candidates on the eligible list. For a promotional/open posting, the top ten internal candidates will be provided unless there is an insufficient number of internal candidates and then the list will be supplemented with the top external candidates to make up the list of ten (Employment Regulations for the Classified Service of the San Diego Unified School District: Article IV, Section 9).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to three years of progressively responsible purchasing-clerical experience or other related office-clerical experience.
