Responsibilities

• Selects, interviews, and analyzes potential vendors to determine factors affecting ability to provide needed parts, materials, and/or services and meeting schedules.
• Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, and recommends vendors meeting established standards.
• Prepares and issues purchase orders, follows up on orders, expedites delivery, approves payment, resolves vendor problems, and maintains records.
• Maintains positive vendor relations.
• Interfaces with Q.C. and Engineering regarding material substitutions.
• Other essential duties may be assigned.

The Gill Corporation is one of the world's largest manufacturers of honeycomb, high performance floor panels, cargo compartment liners and original equipment for passenger and freighter aircraft. The company also excels in many other types of reinforced plastics including interior sandwich panels for creating structures such as aircraft galleys and bulkheads, honeycomb core and related products.

The Gill Corporation is seeking a Buyer. The Buyer is responsible for procuring machinery, equipment, tools, raw materials, parts, services, and supplies essential to the Company’s operations. Key considerations include securing the most cost-effective options while maintaining required quality standards, specifications, and production schedules.

Responsibilities:

• Selects, interviews, and analyzes potential vendors to determine factors that affect ability to provide needed parts, materials, and/or services. Determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
• Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, and most favorable terms, recommending only those vendors that meet established Company standards.
• Prepares and issues purchase orders, follows up on orders placed, verifies and/or expedites delivery, approves payment, resolves problems with vendors, and maintains all necessary records and documentation.
• Maintains positive vendor relations.
• Interfaces with various other departments such as Q.C., regarding rejected materials, or Engineering, concerning substitution of materials.
• Other essential duties may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalency, some college or other related training.
• Five years of experience with procurement in a manufacturing environment with standard costing.
• Strong computer skills with Word processing and Excel.
• Company ERP System-SAP Preferred.
