Job summary

Vermillion, Inc. in Wichita, KS is seeking a Buyer to support manufacturing operations by sourcing materials, supplies, services, and equipment and to collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure materials availability and on-time delivery.

The buyer will initiate purchase orders, maintain purchasing and estimating records, assist with supplier management, and provide material estimates for planning.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree with 2+ years in purchasing/estimating, or equivalent experience.
• Manufacturing/aircraft industry experience preferred.
• Strong Excel and Windows MS Office skills.
• Familiar with MRP/ERP systems.

The Buyer supports Vermilion's manufacturing operations by sourcing and purchasing materials, supplies, services, and equipment needed to meet production and business requirements. This position works closely with suppliers and internal departments to support material availability, competitive pricing, accurate estimating, and on-time delivery. The buyer is responsible for maintaining accurate purchasing and estimating records, supporting supplier relationships, and proactively addressing supply needs to help keep production running efficiently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Initiate purchase orders for supplies, parts, services, and/or equipment
• Performs a variety of duties to ensure that merchandise, supplies, and equipment are shipped on schedule by vendors
• Maintains purchasing and estimating records, purchase and estimating requests, and vendor logs
• Maintains a library of purchasing/estimating material and sources of supply
• Assist with supplier management, to include supplier appraisal and negotiation
• Provide material estimates for the planning department; maintain accurate records of estimates
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Associate's degree plus at least two years of purchasing/estimating experience required; or equivalent work experience
• Manufacturing and/or aircraft (or similar technical) industry experience strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office applications, including strong knowledge of Excel
• Working knowledge of MRP or ERP systems
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to organize, manage, and complete multiple tasks within deadlines
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
