Job Summary:

The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, procuring, and managing supply chain relationships for Class IX repair parts (maintenance, repair, and operations spares) for tracked and wheeled military vehicles (e.g. M1A1 Abrams, M113, Bradley). Will work under supervision, but expected to manage own vendors, cost negotiations, quality control, logistics, and inventory forecasting for assigned components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, onboard, and manage relationships with key distributors and remanufacturers for class 9 repair parts for ground equipment.
  • Analyze the market to understand pricing trends, identify potential supply gaps, and provide insights on overall market requirements to the broader team.
  • Negotiate partnership agreements and track ongoing performance: quality, delivery, cost, and implement improvements.
  • Maintain and manage parts specifications, drawings, technical documentation
  • Analyze the market to understand pricing trends, identify potential supply gaps, and provide insights on overall market requirements to the broader team.
  • Monitor inventory levels & forecast demand to avoid stockouts / overstock, based on usage rates, maintenance schedules, operational readiness
  • Manage the end to end Procurement processes including Request for Quote (RFQ), Purchase Order (PO) management etc. , coordinating with suppliers to provide timely and accurate responses.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries regarding part availability, pricing, and lead times from our distributor network.
  • Work with our technical team to ensure the smooth integration of distributor inventory into our marketplace.
  • Keep up to date with market trends, new products/technologies, cost drivers (raw materials, freight)
  • Maintain accurate records: purchase orders, contracts, supplier certifications, test & inspection records

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of procurement / sourcing experience; experience in spare parts / heavy equipment / defense parts is a strong plus
  • Experience with Class IX parts (or willingness/ability to learn quickly)
  • Familiarity with drawing interpretation, mechanical/vehicle component specifications
  • Strong negotiation skills; good cost modeling / cost breakdown ability
  • Understand import/export regulations, incoterms, customs, shipping logistics
  • Good organizational skills, able to prioritize between urgent repair needs and long-term planning
  • Attention to detail especially in quality, supplier compliance, documentation
