Job summary

Peterborough City Council is seeking a Buyer to support compliant end-to-end procurement processes and assist Senior Category Managers, internal stakeholders and external providers in preparing for and supporting change. The role sits within the Council's Procurement Team, which operates under a category management model across directorates.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with strong communication skills, accuracy, and a commitment to achieving Best Value for the Council’s

Qualifications

• Experience in end-to-end procurement and value-for-money approaches.
• Proven ability to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in procurement documentation.
• Ability to support senior managers and work within a category management framework.

Responsibilities

• Support compliant end-to-end procurement process across directorates.
• Assist Senior Category Managers and Category Managers and liaise with internal stakeholders and external providers.
• Help prepare stakeholders for and support change within programmes and procurements.

The role of Buyer includes supporting compliant end-to-end procurement process and supporting Senior Category Managers, Category Managers, internal stakeholders and external providers to prepare them for and support change.

The Procurement Team supports the City Council to achieve best value for money for the services, works or goods that it purchases. We work directly with internal stakeholders and external providers to manage activities that facilitate value for money and provide ongoing client support to deliver continuous cost savings, performance and process improvements for the Council. We deliver a wide range of procurements both strategic and tactical in nature across the Council to provide end-to-end procurement support. This means that we provide support from the moment that we are instructed right through the procurement process to contract management.

The Procurement Team work within a category management model that separates the key directorates of Corporate Services, Place and Economy, and Social Care and Public Health. This role will support Place and Economy but may also be required to support all directorates.
