Job summary

American Power Innovations is seeking a qualified Buyer/Expeditor to locate, purchase and expedite materials in support of the manufacturing schedule. The role requires strong problem-solving, supplier relationship building, and timely delivery management to meet deadlines.

The ideal candidate has purchasing experience in manufacturing, knowledge of procurement procedures, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Company paid health insurance and 401K are among the benefits.

Responsibilities

• Purchases goods and services according to the company’s policies and procedures.
• Coordinates with managers to maintain inventory levels.
• Evaluates vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history.
• Works with vendors to negotiate volume and cash transaction discounts, and other available discounts.
• Ensure that purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions.
• Maintains pricing histories and other vendor records
• Maintains records of goods that have been ordered and corresponding shipping dates.
• Confirm shipping dates with vendors.
• Monitors shipping notices to avoid potential problems with deliveries.
• Reports on major shipping problems.
• Assign tracers to shipments to identify delays once order is in transit.
• Maintain business relationships with suppliers
• Inspect shipments to confirm that products received meet specifications.
• to ensure their assistance if an unexpected event requires expedited shipping of an order.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Overview:

The Buyer/Expeditor is responsible for locating, purchasing & expediting materials in support of a predetermined manufacturing schedule. Must be a problem solver that is willing to put in the time and research to meet deadlines by building strong relationships with suppliers. Ability to select and recommend quality materials consistent with project budgets. Processing requisitions and updating management on the status of orders while also tracking orders to ensure timely delivery
