Job summary

The Buyer works closely with Production Control, Sales, Engineering and Operations to source parts, tools and supplies for the production of critical aerospace hardware and tooling.

Purchasing at FTI operates in a disciplined aerospace environment requiring full traceability per AS9100 and financial compliance per SOX, with PCC backing. This role handles supplier management, price negotiation, order placement, and ensures quality and timely delivery across the supply chain.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 2–5 years purchasing experience; manufacturing environment preferred.
• Familiar with B.O.O. and B.O.M., min/max inventory, safety stock, accounting and related concepts.
• Ability to identify fair market value for products.
• Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
• Proficient with MS Office; strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Review MRP daily to identify sourcing needs.
• Make supplier selection and assign pricing to each job.
• Create and place purchase orders for relevant parts.

The Buyer works closely with Production Control, Sales, Engineering and Operations to source parts, tools and supplies for the production of critical aerospace hardware and tooling. Purchasing at FTI is carried out within a disciplined aerospace environment requiring full traceability per AS9100 and financial compliance per SOX. FTI Supply Chain operates with the full support and backing of Precision Castparts Corporation. The Buyer is part of a larger Supply Chain Team with other buyers focused on raw materials and outside processing.

Primary Responsibilities

• Review MRP daily to identify sourcing needs
• Make supplier selection and assign pricing to each job
• Compile purchasing job packets
• Create and place PO's for relevant parts
• Follow up with Suppliers for accurate status and delivery dates
• Update PO dates in the system as required
• Negotiate best price
• Ensure compliance to part specifications and quality requirements
• Manage assigned suppliers to ensure contractual compliance and performance
• Follow up and maintain accurate and detailed record keeping of transactions and communications
• Follow and maintain department standard operating procedures including Environmental, Health, and Safety Policy, SOX compliance, and procurement best practices
• Ability to work on a rotating weekend schedule
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Education or Experience

• High School Diploma required
• Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
• Proficient with MS Office suite
• 2 to 5 years of purchasing experience. Purchasing in a Manufacturing Environment preferred
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Familiar with concepts of B.O.O. and B.O.M., min/max inventory levels, safety stock, accounting, and other professional concepts that affect purchasing decisions
• Ability to identify a fair market value for any given product

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $82,000 to $98,000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
