Job summary

Stoughton Parts Sales in Wisconsin is seeking a dedicated Material Planner to coordinate purchase orders and manage inventory in alignment with master scheduling and forecasts. You will review POs in the ERP system, coordinate with suppliers, and monitor lead times to keep production flowing.

The role requires 3+ years in material planning/purchasing, strong ERP and MS Office skills, and a proven ability to drive continuous improvement while maintaining high-quality deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required and/or significant industry experience, with emphasis in Operations Management, Engineering, Business or Supply Chain Management.
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in material planning and/or purchasing, preferably within a manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of inventory management practices such as forecasting, order policy codes, demand management, and lead-times in support of customer programs.
  • Ability to navigate a changing business environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong project management skills and experience with continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Solid ERP experience and Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

  • Release of purchase orders to suppliers via ERP system in a timely basis according to lead-times.
  • Coordinate production build plans with master scheduling and planning leadership.
  • Review and monitor open purchase orders via ERP exception messages and take actions.
  • Communicate with suppliers on PO coordination and releases, manage discrepant materials.
  • Interact with material control on movement of materials to support manufacturing.
  • Review inventory to determine actions on excess/obsolete components and plan actions.
  • Establish production planning parameters in the system to manage inventory levels.
  • Interact with sales on incoming orders and provide status updates.
  • Negotiate purchased costs and payment terms with suppliers.
  • Manage activities in a hands-on manner and drive critical supply expedites.
  • Drive cost savings initiatives in cross-functional teams.
  • Perform duties safely and in alignment with company policy.

Job description

  • Release of purchase orders to suppliers via the ERP system on a timely basis in accordance with lead-times, and monitoring delivery schedules.
  • Work closely with master scheduling and planning leadership on the production build plans, which include ensuring that forecasts are current within the business system to execute planning functions. Review and monitor open purchase orders via ERP exception messages and execute actions in accordance.
  • Manage ERP exception messages on a consistent basis, reviewing and responding to order actions messages on existing purchase orders.
  • Communication and correspondence with the supply base on purchase order coordination and execution of releases submitted, including the management of identified discrepant materials.
  • Interaction with material control on the required movement of materials as required to support manufacturing, which includes receiving processes and internal movements.
  • Reviews inventory to determine actions on excess and obsolete components and define a plan of action to manage.
  • Responsible for establishing production planning parameters in the business system to effectively manage inventory levels.
  • Interaction with sales on incoming orders, requesting information and providing status updates as required.
  • Negotiate purchased costs and payment terms with suppliers, along with exposure to executing to supplier agreements and contracts.
  • Ability to manage activities in a very hands‑on manner and provide direction.
  • Effectively manage and expedite critical supply of components, including compiling line of balance reports.
  • Cross functional skills in understanding manufacturing capabilities and customer expectations.
  • Drive and implement new product, continuous improvement and cost savings initiatives in a cross functional team setting.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required
