Job summary

Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County is seeking a Materials Management Buyer to coordinate purchasing of hospital supplies, ensuring cost-effective procurement and timely availability. This role supports the Materials Management department by maintaining inventory control, collaborating with staff, and securing supplies through GPO-compliant contracts to support high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Associate’s degree preferred; 1+ year in purchasing, inventory management, or supply chain in hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and performs purchasing activities for hospital supplies with cost-effective procurement.
• Manages storage and distribution through GPO-compliant contracts to support patient care.
• Maintains inventory control and collaborates with staff to ensure availability of supplies.
• Provides operational and supervisory oversight in the absence of the Director of Materials Management.

• JOB SUMMARY

  The Materials Management Buyer coordinates and performs purchasing activities for hospital supplies, ensuring cost-effective procurement, storage, and distribution through GPO-compliant contracts that support high-quality patient care. This role supports the Materials Management department and hospital operations by maintaining inventory control and collaborating with staff to ensure timely availability of supplies. In the absence of the Director of Materials Management, the Buyer provides operational and supervisory oversight to ensure continuity of daily departmental functions.

• JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:

    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • An Associate’s degree preferred.
    • At least 1 year’s experience in purchasing, inventory management, supply chain, or related field, preferably materials management in a hospital setting.

    • Requires advanced computer skills, strong multitasking abilities, and the ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure environment while delivering excellent customer service and communication.
