Job summary

Bunzl is seeking a Buyer to assist the Purchasing Manager with coordinating inbound purchase orders and vendor management. This role oversees products and vendors, ensuring cost-effective and timely transportation.

Key duties include cultivating vendor relationships, optimizing inventory, and collaborating with internal teams to meet customer demands while maintaining high accuracy and communication. Strong Excel and AS400 experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years in purchasing or similar roles, preferably in distribution.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook; attention to detail and multitasking ability.
• Negotiation skills and experience with AS400 system preferred.

The Buyer will assist the Purchasing Manager with the coordination of inbound purchase orders from vendors. This position is responsible for all products and vendors assigned to them, as well as the coordination of the transportation of said items in a cost effective and timely manner.

Responsibilities:

• Cultivate and maintain strong customer and vendor relationships
• Collaborate on inventory control strategies, including reviewing and eliminating obsolete materials
• Utilize data analysis to optimize inventory turnover and meet customer demands effectively
• Collaborate efficiently with internal departments to ensure seamless operations
• Undertake additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

• High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in purchasing or relevant business roles, preferably in a distribution environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Exceptional multitasking abilities and attention to detail
• Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills
• Experience with AS400 system preferred
