Job summary

Adient plc is seeking a Program Purchasing Buyer to join our Operational Purchasing team in Plymouth, MI. You will drive flawless program launches, manage RFQ preparation, source parts and tooling, and negotiate changes to meet timing and budget targets.

You will collaborate with Program Management, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Finance to optimize costs, support VAVE activities, and ensure compliance with purchasing policies. Travel may be required as part of cross-functional reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or related field.
• 3-5 years of Automotive Purchasing experience.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive program launches.
• Negotiate changes, evaluate cost breakdowns and seek cost reductions.

Job description

The Program Purchasing Buyer is part of our Operational Purchasing team and will be responsible for flawless program launches, ensuring purchasing deliverables are met according to program timing and budget, negotiating product changes, supporting VAVE activities, BOM and sourcing tracking, preparing RFQs, negotiating and sourcing parts and tooling, supporting technical feasibility reviews, and representing purchasing in multifunctional program reviews. This position will require a general understanding of purchasing policies and procedures, purchasing related laws, agency, legal and ethical obligations. On a personal level, the successful candidate will be an individual of unquestionable integrity who enjoys operating in a hands‑on, roll‑up‑your‑sleeves environment. S/he will be proactive and able to work independently in fast‑paced environments.
