Job summary

Adient in Plymouth, MI is seeking a Buyer to join the Operational Purchasing team. You will drive flawless program launches, manage BOM and sourcing tracking, prepare RFQs, and negotiate changes to meet timing and budget targets for automotive components.

• Experience with automotive soft trim or metals components desired.

Responsibilities

• Lead program launches and ensure deliverables meet timing and budget.

Job Description

The Buyer is part of our Operational Purchasing team and will be responsible for flawless program launches, ensuring purchasing deliverables are met according to program timing and budget, negotiating product changes, supporting VAVE activities, BOM and sourcing tracking, preparing RFQs, negotiating and sourcing parts and tooling, supporting technical feasibility reviews, and representing purchasing in multifunctional program reviews.

Core Responsibilities

• Ability to work with multiple functions within Adient (Program Management, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance) and influence without direct authority


• Clear understanding of supplier terms and conditions


• Ability to negotiate (tactics, techniques, and strategies)


• Evaluate cost breakdowns to identify opportunities to reduce overall cost


• Ability to gather information, analyze data, prepare and lead negotiations as well as deliver a recommendation


• Ability to summarize complex issues and communicate to all levels of management


• Ability to be successful working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities


• Some travel may be required
