Job summary

Standard Nuclear, Inc. is seeking a Technical Purchasing & Sourcing specialist to support engineering, manufacturing, and facility operations at our Oak Ridge facility. You will work with suppliers to obtain quotes, verify specifications, and ensure purchases meet schedule, quality, and cost targets.

The role focuses on PO creation, delivery tracking, and supplier coordination, with opportunities to improve lead times and procurement processes in a fast-paced nuclear manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
• Experience in purchasing, procurement, or sourcing in a technical environment.
• Ability to read technical specs, drawings, and BOMs.

The Buyeris responsible forsourcing andpurchasingtechnical components, equipment, materials, and services that support StandardNuclear’sengineering, manufacturing, and facility operations. This role works closely with engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, and vendors to understand requirements,identifyqualified suppliers, obtain competitive quotes, and ensure purchases meet technical, schedule, quality, and commercial needs.

This position manages purchase orders from sourcing through delivery, helps resolve supplier andlogisticsissues, and supports cost and lead-time improvements across active projects and ongoing operations.

The ideal candidate is organized, commercially minded, comfortable working with technical information, and able to manage multiple purchasing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Purchasing & Sourcing

• Source components, equipment, materials, and services based on engineering, manufacturing, and operational requirements
• Review technical specifications, drawings, bills of materials, and purchase requests to understand sourcing needs
• Identifyand evaluate suppliers capable of meeting technical, quality, schedule, and commercial requirements
• Obtain and evaluate quotes, lead times, pricing, commercial terms, and supplier capabilities
• Coordinate with engineering and quality to clarify requirements and support supplier selection decisions

Purchase Order & Delivery Management

• Create, issue, and manage purchase orders from placement through delivery and closeout
• Track order status, supplier commitments, lead times, delivery dates, and open actions
• Follow up with suppliers to resolve delays, shortages, documentation gaps, quality concerns, or other order issues
• Maintainaccuratepurchasing records, supplier information, pricing, and delivery information in company systems
• Coordinate with receiving, warehouse, finance, and internal requestors to resolve delivery, invoice, or purchase order discrepancies
• Build andmaintaineffective working relationships with manufacturers, distributors, fabricators, and service providers
• Identifyopportunities to reduce cost, improve lead times, increase availability, and strengthen supplier performance
• Support negotiations related to pricing, delivery, minimum order quantities, payment terms, and other commercial conditions
• Identifyalternate suppliers and sourcing options for critical or difficult-to-source items
• Communicate supply risks, schedule impacts, and recommended actions to supply chain and project stakeholders

Cross-Functional & Process Support

• Partner with engineering, manufacturing, quality, facilities, and project teams to support changing material and equipment needs
• Support supplier documentation, certifications, inspection requirements, and technical submittals as needed
• Assistwith bill of materials reviews, sourcing plans, and purchasing priorities for active projects and ongoing operations
• Help improve purchasing workflows, supplier records, sourcing practices, and procurement processes as company systems mature
• Support special sourcing projects and other supply chain activities as assigned

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
• 2-5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, supply chain, manufacturing, or related work
• Experiencepurchasingtechnical components, equipment, fabricated parts, industrial materials, or engineering services preferred
• Ability to read and understand technical specifications, drawings, bills of materials, and supplier documentation
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple suppliers, purchase orders, priorities, and deadlines
• Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with ERP,purchasing, inventory, or supply chain systems preferred
• Experience in manufacturing, nuclear, aerospace, defense, energy, chemical processing, or another technical environment is a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is based on-site at StandardNuclear'sOak Ridge, TN nuclear fuel fabrication facility and involves work across office, warehouse, manufacturing, and technical support areas.

The position requires regular interaction with suppliers, engineering, manufacturing, quality, warehouse, finance, and other internal teams. Work may involve reviewing technical documentation, coordinating material and equipment deliveries, entering manufacturing support areas, and using required PPE. Adherence to site safety, quality, radiological, security, contamination control, and operational procedures is expected.
