Jabil's Memphis facility seeks an experienced Buyer I to ensure material availability and supply continuity for production. You will manage supplier relationships, execute purchasing strategies, and maintain inventory integrity to minimize risk and costs.

The role emphasizes ERP/MRP proficiency, data-driven decision making, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to support sourcing and commodity strategies.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of purchasing, inventory management, and material planning.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and supplier relationships.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Bachelor's or associate degree in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and manage MRP to ensure material availability for production.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to optimize cost, delivery, and quality.
  • Issue purchase orders aligned with negotiated pricing and terms.
  • Maintain purchasing master data and planning parameters.
  • Support Accounts Payable with invoice discrepancy resolution.
  • Track supplier performance and participate in sourcing strategies.
  • Monitor material pipelines and balance inventory investment with cost.

Job description

Jabil's Memphis facility supports world-class manufacturing operations through strategic supply chain, procurement, and materials management processes. The Buyer I plays a critical role in ensuring materials are available to support production while optimizing cost, inventory, supplier performance, and delivery commitments.

How Will You Make an Impact?

As a Buyer I, you will drive material availability and supply continuity to support production and customer demands. By effectively managing supplier relationships, executing purchasing strategies, and maintaining inventory integrity, you will help minimize risk, reduce costs, and ensure operational success across the manufacturing environment.

What Will You Do?
  • Execute and manage Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to ensure material availability for production requirements.
  • Participate in production loading decisions through proper material sizing and planning.
  • Monitor and maintain material pipelines to support Master Production Schedule (MPS) requirements.
  • Identify, communicate, and resolve material supply issues that could impact production.
  • Issue purchase orders in accordance with negotiated pricing, terms, and supplier agreements.
  • Optimize supplier communications and order management processes.
  • Maintain purchasing master data and planning parameters to balance inventory investment and procurement costs.
  • Monitor supplier delivery, quality, and service performance metrics.
  • Drive corrective actions and resolution of supplier quality and delivery issues.
  • Minimize material liability by understanding ownership and executing supplier agreements effectively.
  • Support Accounts Payable with invoice discrepancy resolution.
  • Collaborate with Commodity Managers, Buyers, and Supply Chain teams to support sourcing and commodity strategies.
  • Track supplier performance and provide data-driven feedback to internal stakeholders.
  • Minimize material freight expenses while meeting production requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety, quality, and security policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
How Will You Get Here?
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
  • 1–3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, materials planning, inventory control, or supply chain operations preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems preferred.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and purchase orders preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of purchasing, inventory management, and material planning principles.
  • Understanding of MRP and supply chain processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to calculate percentages, ratios, rates, and interpret graphs and reports.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with manufacturing ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JDE, or similar platforms.
  • Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing operations.
  • Knowledge of supplier performance metrics and inventory optimization strategies.
  • APICS/CPIM coursework or certification is a plus.
