Job summary

ABB is seeking a to-be-defined Purchasing Specialist in the United States, onsite in Mechanicsville, VA. The role reports to the Supply Chain Manager - Traction and focuses on purchasing materials according to specifications, price, delivery schedule, and terms.

You will identify new suppliers in collaboration with the category team to optimize value within ABB’s North America operations. The role requires ERP/SAP experience, 3+ years in manufacturing purchasing, strong contract and bid analysis

Qualifications

• Experience with ERP systems and SAP.
• Proficient MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with electrical industry/manufacturing sector.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

• Initiating Purchase Orders in the system per requisitions and ensuring delivery with suppliers.
• Negotiating agreements with main suppliers and renewing price lists/terms.
• Recommending frame agreements and executing upon approval.
• Analysing and evaluating bids to determine best value.

This position reports to:

Supply Chain Manager - Traction

In this role, you will have the opportunity to purchase materials according to required technical specifications, price, delivery schedule, and terms. Each day, you will ensure purchasing activities align with corporate purchasing policies and procedures. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying new suppliers in cooperation with the relevant category team.

The work model for the role is: Onsite. This role is contributing to the Motion product group/Traction business in North America region.

• Initiating Purchase Orders in the system, according to the purchase requisitions and in alignment with standard procedures, and confirming delivery with suppliers, monitoring, and tracking supplier performance to PO requirements.
• Negotiating agreements with main suppliers, and periodically renews price lists and terms and conditions.
• Recommending frame agreements to management and executing upon approval.
• Analyzing and evaluating bids to determine the optimal value.

Qualifications For The Role

• Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, SAP Experience, relevant tools and methodologies, working experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). and the relevant experience in Electrical industry/manufacturing sector
• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing purchasing department field.
• Experience in Supply management and quality processes, experience working with projects, contract law, commercial terms, standard procurement procedures and related Company policies.
• Capacity to maintain partnerships with internal and external collaborators
• Bachelor's Degree and minimum 3 years of experience or Master's Degree and minimum 2 years of experience or High School Diploma and minimum 10 years of experience in manufacturing purchasing department.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
