Job summary

Safe Fleet in Missouri is seeking a Buyer I to support the procurement of materials, components, supplies, and services required for production and operations. You will collaborate with suppliers, production planning, inventory management, and internal stakeholders to ensure materials are available on time, at the best value, and in accordance with quality standards.

This role develops foundational purchasing skills while assisting with supplier management, order execution, and supply chain

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0-2 years of purchasing, supply chain, inventory control, or related experience.
  • Knowledge of purchasing functions and ability to communicate with outside sources.
  • Ability to communicate with vendors and represent the company's needs.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out follow-up and expediting activities to align with production schedules.
  • Solicit and analyze quotations; suggest cost-saving substitutes.
  • Interview suppliers regarding materials, terms, and lead-time to secure best purchases.
  • Assist departments to obtain specs, quotations, deliveries, and costs.
  • Communicate with suppliers about quality issues and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain catalogs, price lists, and quotations.
  • Responsible for all MRO plant supply purchases.
  • Review purchase order suggestions and place orders accordingly.
  • Check requisitions through Syteline and place orders accordingly.
  • Coordinate pick-ups and deliveries with ROM truck driver.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Buyer I is responsible for supporting the procurement of materials, components, supplies, and services required for production and business operations. This position works closely with suppliers, production planning, inventory management, and internal stakeholders to ensure materials are available on time, at the best value, and in accordance with quality standards. The Buyer I develops foundational purchasing skills while assisting with supplier management, order execution, and supply chain performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Carry out necessary follow-up and expediting activities to ensure delivery as required by production schedule.
  • Solicit and analyze quotations for new and/or existing items. Recommend substitutes where a savings in cost will result.
  • Interview suppliers regarding materials, terms, and lead‑time to negotiate best purchase for the company.
  • Assist all departments to obtain proper specs., quotations, deliver and cost as required.
  • Contact all suppliers regarding quality issues and resolves reject issues in the company's best interest.
  • Maintain an appropriate file of catalogs, price lists, quotations and other correspondence.
  • Responsible for all MRO plant supply purchases.
  • Reviews purchase order suggestion report, and place orders accordingly.
  • Check for requisitions through Syteline and place orders accordingly.
  • Communicate pick‑ups and deliveries as needed to the ROM truck driver.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 0-2 years of purchasing, supply chain, inventory control, customer service, or related business experience.
  • Overall knowledge of purchasing functions.
  • Ability to communicate with outside sources for information related to purchasing.
  • Ability to communicate with vendors and represent the company's needs.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Must have the ability to read, write, speak and understand English plus have adequate hearing and visual acuity.Working environment is in an air-conditioned cubical with occasionally physically going into an unheated/air conditioned manufacturing/warehouse setting.Safety glasses with side shields are required in the production area.Must effectively communicate on the telephone while entering data on computer.Frequent reaching, gripping, and carrying up to 50 lbs., standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting and walking in addition to being seated a good portion of the day.Good communication skills are required in addition to understanding verbal and written instruction.Must handle multiple tasks and perform effectively in a fast paced work environment.
