Job summary

Trump International Hotel and Tower Chicago is seeking a friendly busser to warmly welcome guests, assist with seating, and ensure timely service of food and beverages. The role requires prior restaurant experience and physical ability to lift and stand for extended periods.

Duties include clearing and resetting tables, assisting servers, and maintaining safe, clean dining areas in a fast-paced hotel restaurant environment.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant experience required.
• Ability to lift, reach, bend and stoop.
• Be able to stand for long periods (up to 5 hours).
• Be able to safely lift and maneuver trays weighing 20–25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Promptly greet guests as they are seated and bring bread, butter and water to table.
• Remove used tableware between courses and provide tableware for next course.
• Clear tables after guests and reset for next seating.
• Assist server with food delivery during peak periods and large parties.
• Maintain cleanliness and adhere to health department laws.

Position Overview

The busser is expected to warmly welcome guests upon their arrival, assist manager/host/ess in seating guest; to ensure place, delivery and serve all food and beverage orders within time standards; to ensure quality of ingredients, preparation, presentation and correct temperature of food served to guest.

Serve guests, bread, water and butter upon their arrival, and provide refills as needed. Remove used tableware between courses; clear and reset tables after guests leave. May be required to function as a food runner and/or buffet runner as requested by manager or supervisor.

Qualifications and Physical/Mental Requirements

• Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language (level to be customized per position).
• The ability to follow payroll and key sign out procedures.
• The ability to offer any assistance possible to guests.
• The ability to respond properly to any hotel emergency or safety situation.
• The ability to perform other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management and staff.
• Comply with TIHTC work rules and standards per the associate handbook and as directed by management.
• Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and management
• Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy.
• Have working knowledge of the predominant language(s) of our guests.
• Be able to lift, reach, bend and stoop.
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).

Position Responsibilities

• Reports to work on time, in proper uniform (according to standards) and complies with company policy regarding absenteeism and tardiness
• Attends all colleague meetings and reads the bulletin board daily for important notices and information, checks schedule daily
• Obtain service area assignment at the beginning of each shift.
• Promptly greet guests as they are seated and bring bread, butter and water to table.
• Remove used tableware between courses and provide tableware for next course.
• Clear tables after guests. Take tableware to dish room and place silverware, dishes, glassware, etc. in appropriate areas for washing.
• Between seating promptly clean table tops, chairs and booths. Check floor and clean as required. Reset and arrange tabletop.
• Respond appropriately to guest requests. Communicate guest requests to server as needed.
• Communicate with server and hostess to assure efficient seating, table utilization and customer service.
• Assist server as needed with food delivery, especially with large parties and during peak periods.
• Thank guests as they are leaving
• Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
• Adheres to and observes all local and state health department laws and regulations regarding safe handling and serving of food.
• Duties may include functioning as a food runner and/or buffet runner as required or requested by manager or supervisor.
