Job summary

ALLEGRIA HOTEL in New York is seeking a Food & Beverage team member to facilitate service. This role reports to the Restaurant Manager and pays $11.35 per hour plus tips. Shifts include AM, Mid and PM, with weekend coverage required.

The ideal candidate will help maintain dining room operations, assist staff, and ensure a clean, welcoming environment for guests while adhering to safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1–3 months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination.
  • Ability to read safety rules and operate manuals; write routine reports and correspondence.

Responsibilities

  • Carries plates and service trays to and from kitchen and dining room.
  • Prepares dining room for service and resets tables with silverware and glassware.
  • Maintains cleanliness of restaurant areas including kitchen, bar, lobby, rest rooms and floors.
  • Replenishes linens, silverware, glassware, and dishes as needed.
  • Assists servers, bartenders and customers during meal service.
  • Applies health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Reports problems to management promptly.

Summary:

Facilitates food service by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Carries plates and/or service trays to and from kitchen and dining room. *
  2. Completes all assigned opening and closing side work to prepare dining room, kitchen and service stations for efficient operation during meal period.*
  3. Cleans and maintains all areas of restaurant including kitchen, bar, lobby, rest rooms and grounds; wipes table tops and chairs with damp cloth. *
  4. Replace soiled table linens and set tables with silverware and glassware.*
  5. Replenishes supply of stocks such as clean linens, silverware, glassware, and dishes in dining room; alerts kitchen and management of stock shortages. *
  6. Supplies service bar with food such as soups, salads, and desserts. *
  7. Assists server, bartender and customers as needed throughout the meal period. *
  8. Lifts and carries garbage from the restaurant and disposes of in proper areas. *
  9. Adheres to all restaurant policies and procedures paying special attention to health and/or safety procedures. *
  10. Serve ice water and butter to patrons.*
  11. Cleans and polishes glass shelves and doors of service bars and equipment such as coffee urns and cream and milk dispensers. *
  12. Reports any problems or discrepancies to management immediately.
  13. Communicates with host/hostess and manager when tables have been cleared.
  14. Applies knowledge of full menu and other restaurant information such as restaurant hours, table numbers and types of payments.
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
