Job summary

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts in San Diego is seeking a hospitality-focused team member to expedite food from kitchen to guests and set up the kitchen line for each service, ensuring prompt and attentive dining experiences.

Role includes supporting wait staff, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with station setup; prior food service is preferred and flexibility to work nights/weekends is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some prior food service experience preferred.
• Must be able to carry or lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Able to stand for long periods and move around kitchen and dining areas.
• Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit may be required by local/state agency.
• May work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

Responsibilities

• Expedite food from kitchen to guests, ensuring prompt service.
• Set up and maintain kitchen line for each service.
• Assist wait staff and bussing as needed.
• Polish glassware and silverware; maintain cleanliness of expo lines.
• Deliver food to guest tables and announce items when appropriate.
• Coordinate with Catering, Banquets, Outlets, and Guest Services as needed.
• Unload inventory and monitor storage areas.

Job Overview

Expedite food from kitchen to customer to ensure prompt service of meals to guests. Setting up the kitchen line for every meal.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain all assigned food production service areas in an orderly manner in compliance with sanitation and health regulations.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. Key departmental contacts include Catering, Banquets, Outlets, and Guest Services.
• Deliver food from kitchen to guests table. Place food in proper position and announce food as it is placed in front of guest, if required.
• Assist the wait staff in the service of food in accordance with the established standards.
• Set up station in the kitchen.
• Pre-bus tables
• Polishing of glassware and silverware
• Assist servers in bussing tables, and pouring drinks as needed
• Maintain outside patio, removal of outside heaters and replacement of propane tanks
• Maintain the orderly upkeep of coolers and storage areas.
• Assist with unloading of inventory as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of expo lines.
• Assist in table set up and cleaning when required. Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the restaurant in all areas.
• Swapping of plates per service, along with condiments and garnishes needed.
• Preparation of limes, lemons and other food items used by servers for food service.
• May assist with other duties as needed, such as welcoming, greeting and seating guests, counting and exchanging soiled linen, polishing glassware or silverware, etc.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Some prior food service experience preferred.

This job requires ability to perform the following:

• Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds
• Standing up and moving about the kitchen, outlet or other designated areas
• Handling food, objects, products, chemicals, cleaning supplies and utensils
• Bending, stooping, kneeling

Other

• Communicating with other people, listening and following up on basic guest requests
• Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency.
• May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
