Overview

Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Services & Systems (EESS) division is seeking a Business Unit Director - Power Distribution Services. The BU Director will lead Field Service, Switchgear Modernization, and Strategic Operations to drive market growth and profitability of a $400M business. Reporting to the SVP/GM of EESS, this position is a key member of the EESS leadership team. You will guide a team, build partnerships, and ensure safety, quality, and financial growth. Your leadership will foster continuous improvement and operational excellence, develop scalable growth strategies, and use market analyses to enhance product development.

Understanding the business operates on Eastern standard time, the position may be based at any of the following Eaton locations: Pittsburgh, PA (Preferred); Atlanta, GA; Boston, MA; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Cleveland, OH; Dallas, TX; Waukesha WI; Denver, CO; Detroit, MI; Houston, TX; Phoenix, AZ; San Francisco, CA; Seattle WA; Los Angeles CA; Austin TX; Raleigh NC. Relocation assistance will only be provided to Pittsburgh, PA. This position requires 50% travel.

Responsibilities
  • Lead team of 8 direct reports and distributed workforce of 800+ employees
  • Partner with Finance and Regional Directors to create profit plans and monthly forecasts to meet financial commitments.
  • Responsible for approving/reviewing the budgeting and procurement of equipment for the business, efficient execution of sales quotes, cost control, leveraging subcontractors, inventory management, managing receivables, and turn of backlog and projects
  • Collaborate with Finance and Legal to resolve terms & condition issues with the contracts department, and work with collections
  • Work with Product Line Management to set goals for customer engagement, proposals, growth, and win rates.
  • Align with Product Line Management and Sales to meet order/product objectives and enhance customer experiences.
  • Partner closely with HR to assure an effective and skilled staff through recruiting, assessment of talent, training & development, goal setting and performance appraisal. Provide leadership for employee growth and retention.
  • Collaborate with EHS to assure the division views safety as a value and ensures all employees, contractors and equipment are operating in a safe and controlled environment
  • Interface with key customers, sales force, manufacturing plants, product management, and support staff. Coordinate with plants, business units, and vendors for parts/services.
  • Develop and share product/process improvements across regions.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop and execute talent policies and programs to recruit, train, motivate, ensure inclusion, and retain high-performing employees.
Qualifications

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business-related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in roles of increasing responsibility in a matrixed manufacturing and/or field services environment
  • Experience leading a manufacturing business and/or manufacturing operations with a track record in delivering scalable outcomes
  • Experience owning a multi-million P&L with proven success in growing incremental business opportunities
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship both now and in the future

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or advanced technical degree from accredited educational institution
  • Knowledge of power distribution, control products, as well as field service practices
  • Proven ability to leverage resources and relationships within a matrixed organization, and communicate effectively with executives, customers, and engineers

This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Salary information shown above is a general guideline only.
