Job summary

MedImpact Healthcare Systems, Inc. is seeking a Business Systems Analyst V to bridge end-users and IT, reviewing complex needs and proposing system solutions aligned with business strategy.

The role requires strong requirements gathering, documentation, testing, and cross-functional collaboration, with responsibility for on-time delivery and stakeholder communication at the San Diego HQ. On-site work with occasional remote coordination.

Job Description Summary

The Business Systems Analyst V is a liaison between end-users/clients and the MedImpact Business and Technology teams. The position is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating the most complex business systems and user needs. Formulates system solutions to parallel overall business strategies. Writes detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Interviews end-users/customers to define business requirements for complex software modifications and enhancements.
  • Meets with internal and external clients to discuss enhancement requests as needed.
  • Translates business requirements by reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating needs into functional specifications.
  • Coordinates and responds to requests for changes from original specifications.
  • Facilitates design sessions with business and technical resources to ensure that solutions meet the needs of the business.
  • Consults with technical teams on design and database issues.
  • Offers recommendations and suggestions for process improvements to optimize assigned products and systems.
  • Defines and documents requirements business rules to assist in the development of software specifications to include system requirements, flow charts, report mock-ups, and business rules.
  • Drives and/or leads projects to completion and maintains accountability for assigned projects.
  • Works with business stakeholders to develop project plans, prioritize project tasks, and provides regular status updates on project progress to management and stakeholders.
  • Develops business processes that ensure developed application meets all project requirements.
  • Ensures that projects are completed on time, accurate to defined specifications and within budget.
  • Performs user acceptance testing on software enhancements before they are released to Production.
  • Works with IT software development teams and QA staff as needed.
  • Works with MedImpact business and technical teams as well as vendor teams to support any technical changes and/or resolve any issues for the assigned products they support.
  • Utilizing technical and business knowledge of MedImpact supported products, provides technical consultation services to customers relating to the company’s business processes, system requirements, and other technical issues.
  • Mentors and provides functional work direction to less experienced Business Systems Analysts.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:
BS/BA and 8+ years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, and 4 years of SME in respective areas

Computer Skills
  • Visio, Golden 32/TOAD for Oracle, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Securt CRT Design software and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and Unified Modeling Language
  • Oracle and SQL Server databases
  • JAVA, On-line transaction processing (OLTP), AIX/Solaris and integrated development platforms
  • Familiar with relational databases and client server concepts
  • Understanding of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Tableau
  • Working knowledge of SQL (Oracle and SQL Server syntax)
  • Hands on experience with data query tools (i.e., TOAD, SQL Server Management Studio)
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis efficiently
  • Any understanding or experience with Apache SuperSet is a plus

Work Location

This position works on-site at the San Diego Headquarters or other company location (or from a remote location with management approval based on business requirements). Must provide adequate support to internal clients; be available for regular interactions and coordination of work with other employees, colleagues, clients, or vendors; as well as be available to facilitate effective decisions through collaboration with stakeholders.

Working Hours

This is an exempt level position requiring the incumbent to work the hours required to fully accomplish job responsibilities and meet deadlines for work deliverables. The individual must have the flexibility to work beyond traditional hours and be able to work nights, weekends or on holidays as required. Work hours may be changed from time to time to meet the needs of the business. Typical core business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

This position requires no travel; however, attendance may be required at various local conferences and meetings.
