As a key member of the Medicaid Fee-For-Service team, the Principal, Business Intelligence Architect serves as a data and reporting subject matter expert, driving the design, implementation, and enhancement of business intelligence solutions that support MedImpact’s data-driven value proposition. This role partners with cross-functional stakeholders, including executives, engineers, project managers, QA testers, and business customers, to translate complex business needs into effective data and reporting solutions, manage multiple concurrent priorities, and deliver high-quality results with a high degree of autonomy.

This is an internal and external client facing position that requires excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills (listening/verbal/written). BA/BS Degree; 8+ years related experience and 8+ years of SME in respective area(s); (or equivalent combination of education and experience) with at least 4+ years leading individual contributors and leaders of leaders; which may be substituted with an appropriate mix of leadership experience and 5 years of MedImpact experience plus an appropriate external leadership training program and internal mentorship with a seasoned leader (VP+ level) that must completed within 12 months in new position.
Strong working knowledge of Business Intelligence, Reporting and Data Management Technologies. Excellent working knowledge of SQL High level of proficiency with data query tools Excellent working knowledge of relational databases Excellent working knowledge of a variety of currently used programming languages such as SQL, Scripting and Shell Scripting, etc. Thorough knowledge of software methodologies, distributed networking, databases, communications, and multiprocessing applications UNIX and/or Windows environments Strong scripting and build automation Thorough knowledge of software methodologies, distributed networking, databases, communications, and multiprocessing applications Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of data architecture, ETL tools, orchestration frameworks. Experience in structured and unstructured data, SQL databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL), NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) Experience with streaming data architectures (e.g., event-driven systems) preferred. Proficiency in Python, Java, Scripting Tools or other common programming languages. Analytical-thinking, critical-reasoning, and problem-solving skills as applied to complex business-technology subject areas. Ability to communicate complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders. Written, verbal and presentation skills to educate, inform and facilitate decision-making at management level. Planning and organization skills to conceive and execute data and reporting projects and work-efforts independently and leading others. Proven capability in meeting challenges with resourcefulness, generating suggestions for improvement, developing innovative approaches and ideas. Ability to initiate and influence change in a matrix environment with limited formal authority. Expertise in protecting health data requiring HIPAA compliance.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

This position works on-site at the San Diego Headquarters or other company location (or from a remote location with management approval based on business requirements). This is an exempt level position requiring the incumbent to work the hours required to fully accomplish job responsibilities and meet deadlines for work deliverables. The individual must have the flexibility to work beyond traditional hours and be able to work nights, weekends or on holidays as required. Work hours may be changed from time to time to meet the needs of the business. Typical core business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
This position requires no travel; however, attendance may be required at various local conferences and meetings.
