Job Title

Business Systems Analyst

Reporting To

Senior Director of Architecture & Engineering

Work Schedule

Onsite – Buffalo, NY

The Business Systems Analyst supports the day-to-day operational health of Moog's enterprise applications, working directly with business stakeholders and the Production Engineering & Resilience team to keep current-state platforms running reliably while contributing to future-state platform adoption. This is an experienced, hands-on role: the successful candidate arrives with working proficiency in backlog management, technical writing, incident management, and root cause analysis.

An exceptional performer in this role understands complex business processes end-to-end, can trace a transaction through screens, COBOL programs, DB2 tables, batch jobs, and interfaces, communicates effectively across executives, business users, developers, and operations teams, anticipates downstream impacts before changes are implemented, and leads requirements, testing, troubleshooting, and production support with confidence. In Moog's manufacturing environment, this also means fluency in how ERP, supply chain, inventory, production planning, quality, and financial processes run on the mainframe.

To be considered for the Business Systems Analyst role, here’s what you’ll typically need to bring with you:
  • Six (6) or more years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar hands‑on application support/analysis role.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Manufacturing industry background - direct experience supporting manufacturing, operations, or planning business processes and systems.
  • Working knowledge of the mainframe technical stack — able to trace a transaction through online screens, programs, DB2 tables, batch jobs, and interfaces.
  • Working experience with at least one major ERP platform (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or comparable) and its manufacturing-relevant modules — supply chain, inventory, production planning, quality, or financial processes; able to navigate configuration and functional design without ramp-up.
  • Demonstrated, practical experience with incident management and root cause analysis — not classroom exposure, applied experience resolving real production issues and anticipating downstream impacts before they cause incidents.
  • Demonstrated experience owning and managing a backlog - prioritization, grooming, and translating business needs into requirements.
  • Strong structured problem-solving skills; comfortable working through ambiguous, cross‑system issues independently.
Additional Preferred Experience
  • Experience with ERP platforms.
  • Background in aerospace and defense manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with ITIL or equivalent incident/problem management frameworks.
  • Exposure to integration platforms and how upstream/downstream issues surface in application behavior.
As a Business Systems Analyst, You Will
  • Understand assigned business processes end-to-end — not just the screens a user touches, but what happens behind them.
  • Trace a transaction across the full technical path: online screens, programs, DB2 tables, batch jobs, and interfaces to upstream/downstream systems.
  • Anticipate downstream impacts before changes are implemented — identify what else a program, job, or data change will touch before it ships, not after an incident surfaces it.
  • Lead requirements gathering, testing, troubleshooting, and production support with confidence, acting as the connective tissue between business intent and mainframe execution.
  • Apply working knowledge of manufacturing-relevant processes — ERP, supply chain, inventory, production planning, quality, and financial processes — to analysis, RCA, and requirements work.
  • Analyze current-state business processes and system configurations to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Document business processes, system workflows, and data flows to support both sustain operations and future-state transition planning.
  • Support testing (functional, regression, UAT) for enhancements, patches, and upgrades, including test case design and defect triage.
  • Lead or contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring or high-impact incidents, documenting findings and driving corrective actions to closure.
  • Support the transition of assigned applications from current-state to future-state platforms, including participating in cutover planning and post-go-live stabilization.
How We Care For You
  • Financial Rewards: great compensation package, annual profit sharing, matching 401k, and the ability to participate in Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts
  • Work/Life Balance: Flexible paid time off, holidays and parental leave program, relocation assistance.
  • Health & Welfare: Comprehensive insurance coverage including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, Employee Assistance Plan (“EAP”) and other supplemental benefit coverages.
  • Professional Skills Development: Tuition Assistance, mentorship and coaching opportunities, leadership development and other personal growth programs
  • Diverse and Inclusive Workplace: Employee Resource Groups, cultural events, and celebrations.
