Job summary

Brooksource is engaging with a global aerospace manufacturer to complete a 6-week data warehousing scoping assessment. The project aims to map financial and operational reporting requirements to existing data sources, identify gaps, and deliver a proof-of-value MVP within a 5-week window.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst in data warehousing, ETL, or enterprise reporting environments.
• Ability to read, interpret, and deconstruct complex financial reporting packages (P&L or scorecard).
• Experience facilitating requirements sessions with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficiency in SQL to validate data, spot anomalies, and confirm mappings.
• Proven ability to produce clear, structured documentation—data dictionaries, process flows, and source-to-target mappings.
• U.S.-based work location is required.

About the Engagement

We are partnering with a global aerospace manufacturer to execute a time-boxed data warehousing scoping assessment. This is a high-visibility, fast-moving engagement with a clear mandate: map financial and operational reporting requirements to existing data sources, identify gaps, and help deliver a proof-of-value MVP — all within a 5-week window. The work will directly support the automation of a critical financial reporting package used by executive leadership and private equity ownership.

This is not a documentation-only role. You will be working directly with client stakeholders and SMEs, translating business reporting requirements into technical specifications, and helping the engineering team understand exactly what data is needed, where it should come from, and what good looks like.

What You'll Be Doing

• Analyze a 60+ page private equity reporting package and map each metric to its source system, data domain, and current warehouse coverage status
• Conduct structured interviews and working sessions with finance, operations, and site-level SMEs to validate data sources, understand manual processes, and identify gaps
• Perform source-to-target mapping in partnership with the Senior Data Engineer — defining field-level requirements, transformation rules, and data quality expectations
• Document current-state data flows and manual reporting processes across 16 global sites
• Define and agree upon the MVP scope — one reporting page to be automated end-to-end — in collaboration with the client and engineering team
• Establish and document reconciliation tolerances for the MVP — what does "close enough" look like during a proof-of-concept phase vs. production?
• Identify data quality issues, upstream MDM problems, and areas where data doesn't exist or can't be sourced systematically
• Contribute to the Phase 1 delivery roadmap — documenting findings, prioritizing gaps, and helping frame the fixed-price proposal

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst in data warehousing, ETL, or enterprise reporting environments
• Strong ability to read, interpret, and deconstruct complex financial reporting packages — you can look at a P&L or operational scorecard and know exactly what data is needed to produce it
• Experience facilitating requirements-gathering sessions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Proficiency in SQL — you can write queries to validate data, spot anomalies, and confirm field-level mappings
• Proven ability to produce clear, structured documentation — data dictionaries, process flow diagrams, source-to-target mapping documents
• Experience working in environments with minimal existing documentation — you know how to find answers when nobody has written them down
• Strong communication skills — you'll be the bridge between client SMEs and the engineering team
• U.S.-based (required)

Preferred:

• Experience with financial data domains — GL accounts, AR, AP, revenue, cost of goods, spend classifications
• Manufacturing, aerospace, or industrial industry background
• Familiarity with ERP systems such as Epicor, JD Edwards, Oracle, PeopleSoft, or Infor
• Experience with MDM or data governance initiatives
• Familiarity with PowerBI or SSAS reporting environments
• Spanish language skills (helpful for coordination with a Mexico-based site team)

What Success Looks Like

At the end of 5 weeks you will have produced a validated source-to-target mapping document, a clearly scoped MVP definition, and documented findings that enable the engineering team to build with confidence. The client will walk away knowing exactly where their data gaps are, what it will take to close them, and what Phase 1 needs to look like. You'll be the person who made that clarity possible.
