The Opportunity
USAA is seeking a Business Strategist Lead - Alternative Capital Solutions to drive transformative strategies in insurance capital management and risk financing. This role is critical in exploring alternative capital solutions such as Excess & Surplus (E&S) insurance, special purpose vehicles (SPVs), catastrophe risk solutions, reinsurance structures (quota share, parametric, and other mechanisms), and other innovative capital-raising approaches to enhance affordability and coverage for USAA members.
As a key member of the Property & Casualty (P&C) Innovation Team, the Lead will collaborate with internal and external partners to strategize, design, test, and implement parametric insurance solutions and other capital strategies that reduce USAA's liability exposure while maintaining financial strength and a positive balance sheet. This role requires a deep understanding of capital markets, risk financing, parametric insurance, and the evolving insurance landscape to ensure sustainable and fiscally responsible innovation.
This candidate will also be responsible for managing and communicating the progress and outcomes of business strategic and operational efforts with senior leadership throughout the planning process and ongoing. Provides thought leadership, resources, support, guardrails, and guidance to enable senior leaders across CoSA and the enterprise to achieve strategic goals. Contributes to the sustainability of CoSA and functional strategies while also ensuring all production and expense targets are achievable for the plan horizon.
This position can work remotely in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $143,320 - $273,930.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
